Personal ReveiwsWell since I'm going to see MP in April, I just wanted some 3rd party opinions! My Aunt calls it "The Hottest Show On Broadway" I was wondering if it's worthy of being called that? Campy fun or No? |

Re: Personal Reveiws
It's not that campy actually, its just great fun, like a good old musical, but with some amazing sets and great characters too. Of course I saw it on the West End, as it SHOULD be seen! Scroll down the topics to find my review, titled "FINALLY seen it!" |

What's the movie got to do with anything?
I liked the show, even after 36ish viewings. It's clever enough, but not too clever, and the core message - parents, spend time with your children! - is a good and universal one. |

Nothing compared to the movie.
Enjoyable. But the movie is loads better. |

You think the movie is better? Interesting (I'm not judging, I just think it's interesting). I saw the show on the West End 2 1/2 years ago and absolutely loved it - I loved that it was darker than the movie and closer to the books. I also thought the introduction of Mr Banks's nanny (Miss Andrew?) was great and gave us a bit more background to his character. While I do love the film, I thought the stage show was better. Just my opinion though!

A shame they removed some of the better songs. But I love some of the other things they did. The kinda things that surprise you on stage, but on film are just... meh.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of things were amazingly done. But the movie will always be miles ahead in this case.
Juuuust my opinion. |

I watched it a few years ago on west end, I thought it was a fantastic show but not one of my favorites. I think I prefer the movie just because of Julie Andrew and I prefer how Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was done (the whole horse race thing) in the movie. The best disney stage musical is The Lion King in my opinion.

Definately. 1) It's Disney 2) The visual aspect is super amazing! 3) The new score is wonderful. 4) The special effects are to die for. 5) All the cast who are in it at the moment are all amazing. |

I'm probably a bit late here...but yes, totally worth it.
I saw the Swedish version (I sort of had to. I live in Sweden. 8D; ), and DESPITE MY NATURAL HATRED OF NEAR-EVERY SONG DUBBED TO SWEDISH (because..they're almost ALWAYS terrible. It makes me depressed.), the dubbing-over was actually surprisingly blisteringly wonderful, the choreography was splendid and the acting was just amazing. You should definitely see it. Actually, the biggest mistake you could make in your life is not seeing it. I mean, if you end up divorcing someone and then realizing they were your one true love and they're never coming back now, sure, that's ONE thing, but the thing you'll be thinking about there at the cyber-tennis court when you're old and wrinkled is "...Man, I wish I had gone to see that Mary Poppins show back in the day..." ...Just kidding, of course. But srsly though, it's extremely good. [/i] |
