So sad.
bittenbythetheatrebug

I was about to start a thread about this.. I'm so sad. He was an incredible actor. RIP.
LaurelDP

This is very sad. He was a truly charismatic and special entertainer.

He will be missed.
TylerMcMahon

I know this is horrible but when I told me mom i ask here if she thought he could make "Ghost 2" now....

I know horrible but I giggled.
BroadwayBeast

Tyler that is laughable.

He was one of the greats!

Well go cry.
Salome

he was a student of the great Gene Kelly's.

I'll always remmeber him best as Orry main in North and South.
shakalakababy

This made me quite sad but I figured it would happen pretty soon, pancreatic cancer's a bad one.

He really was a great actor and he will be missed. Sad

MmHm. My old roommate's mother died from pancreatic cancer. It really is a brutal one. She said there was no way he'd make it through the year; Unfortunately, she was correct.

Crying or Very sad

So unfortunate. What is this, the 900th celebrity we've lost this year? The "Memoriam" parts of next year's award ceremonies are going to be 20 minutes long.

RIP Sad although I have never seen any of his movies.
Quique

This is so sad. He's one of those actors that my generation grew up with.

I LOVED him as Darrel Curtis in The Outsiders.

Damn you cancer!!!

I saw the following facebook status of one of my friends and couldn't help but laugh:

"YO PATRICK SWAYZE I KNOW YOU JUST DIED AND ALL AND IMMA LET U FINISH BUT MICHAEL JACKSON'S DEATH WAS THE BEST ONE THIS YEAR" -Kanye West

But seriously...his talent will be missed...RIP...

Beagle On Stage

I think everyone should stop giving Kanye West the attention he wants. He's being a douchebag for publicity, it will taper off if the entire internet stops buzzing every time he does something stupid.
SmallTownIngenue

So sad. Sad He was a special and talented performer.
Buff Daddy

Very sad news. RIP

Oh oh aww... :'( :'(

It has been a tough year.....maybe we can go the last four months of the year without any more like this...

Not to disrespect the man or his death...but Billy Mays in that list just seems SO out of place.

I agree....I was just trying to be cheeky by poking fun that he was famous for selling Oxyclean.

And getting coked up and trying to fly a plane...

But back on topic...I had the pleasure of meeting Swayze and his family back around five years ago...you couldn't have asked for a nicer more down to earth guy! Just humble and generous guy. And a true talent that I think far too often has been overlooked.
Felix Felicis

Interestingly, on the BBC News website's "Most read stories" list, Swayze's death comes second to the death of Keith Floyd (basically the first successful TV chef).
You can add him to your list - he was a big name in the UK.

I learned a valuable lesson today: Don't read M.net when you are drinking coffee! It will end up out of your nose! LOL!

Smile

Anyway, holy crap, Salome! That's quite a list! On the award shows, when they do the "In Memorium" section, it's gonna take an hour just to get through that!

A lot of big deaths in the entertainment world...
VenusFlyTrap

And let us not forget dance phenom, Merce Cunningham.

What a horrible year for deaths. Strangely enough this is also the year that all of my friends had children. It must be the universe evening things out.
jazzygirlsings

Interesting thought...

I believe the Universe always balances things out...Time for new phenoms to emerge, I guess! Smile

I'm still wondering how they are going to address all of the deaths this year in the award shows, yearly recaps, etc...
Salome

i edidtd my post and put a * near the tony winners we lost.
