I've been trying to get my hands on it for a while myself. Evidently Amazon.fr doesn't like to ship outside France, otherwise I'd have it already. Sometimes Footlight Records or Dress Circle gets it. Their stock changes a lot, though, so keep checking back. Misto06 was kind enough to put up most of the French Production on dailymotion.com. He'll put up the rest when he has time. Since he was Mistoffelees in it, it's an extra treat. Hope it helps!! |

Thanks, I know sound of music have it but wondered what peoples thoughts were. Also, Sound of Music are selling the double Australian cast album for only twelve euros- any idea why it's so cheap? Thanks again for all the help and info xx | ||

I like the Paris cast, but I like most Cats casts. (I owned them all at one point. I still need to find a complete copy of the Norwegian cast again.) It's got some of the best instrumentations and it's one of the nearly full casts that you'll find of the show. (The Aussie is the other.) The only (brief) review that I read of it called the male cast vocally weak. The Australian cast is strong, it's the only recording of the "modern" (post-1983) versions available in English. There are some cuts and the Mungojerry is a very very bad singer. Marina Prior is has the clearest soprano voice for a Jellylorum and Debbie Byrne is a very good Grizabella. The Australian cast is always cheap because of exchange rates. I don't know the suggested retail, but I purchased a new version back in '99 from an Australian book store for $19 AUD. You can sometimes get it used from Aussie ebay for as low as $9 AUD. |

Look on Ebay too for the Aussie version. Sometimes people dump used copies there for really dirt-cheap.
I found mine at Borders (a major US bookseller chain, they sell CDs, DVDs, and some miscellaneous stuff too) for $25USD. The ironic part is that it was ten bucks cheaper than either the OBC or OLC, and even though I have those I always check the prices. Ebay in general is a good place to go when looking for Cats stuff as people will sell it as they get sick of it or their kids grow out of it. I see quite a few Hamburg albums pop up there.
Thanks! I know what I'm asking Stefan to send me for Christmas this year, provided he doesn't pull a *total* surprise and send me high-end electronics like the one year he sent me an Xbox. |

I'm not a big fan of the Paris cast recording. It's one of those I hear the least. That's due to the fact that I absolutely don't like the lyrics. Out of that it might be good - but I have listened to that recording so few times that I don't remember.
I really hope that with Stage Entertainment France we'll get in the next years a better French production of Cats with better translated lyrics, like they are currently doing with The Lion King. |
