Dear Musicals.Net Posters,

So, do you think that today's Americans have it better than the Americans of The Great Depression?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Yeah, I'd say having food on the table, a roof over your head and being able to get a job means today's americans have it better than the people who couldn't get jobs, feed themselves or their families etc etc...

A lot of people like to complain about how horrible our lives are, and sure...there have been times when life was simpler. Still, we definitely have it way better now than many other times in history. (wow...that sentence was horrible.) There are still many poeple who are down on their luck, and unfortunately, homeless people do exist, but we are so much better off than the people who lived during the depression. People talk about living paycheck to paycheck. Back then, they were putting every scrap of money they earned into the essentials for living like food, electricity, and shelter, and their paychecks still weren't enough. We are way more fortunate and better off.

Wow...I cannot talk today. Sorry.

Obviously. Thanks to Mr. FDR, it'll be a lot harder to regress to the ways of the Great Depression today.

Since the Great Depression, there has been economic recessions that were a lot worse than what happened back during the Depression, but most people don't notice it because of all the economic and financial protections put into place since then.[/quote]
