OT: Death preferences...Dear Musicals.Net Posters,
How would you prefer to die (assuming that you wish to die either purposely, or by natural causes), and why would you prefer to die in that fashion?

I want to die before I can't care for myself properly! Who wants to have someone push them around on a wheelchair, change their Depends, dress and feed them? I know I don't!

I would like to die at a ripe old age, suddenly, in my sleep, with no warnng, while I am in otherwise good health and have all my mental faculties. Failing that, I want to be hit by a beer truck while crossing the street.
What I don't want to do is die in a hospital bed, away from family and friends, after a long and painful illness.

I don't want to get old.
Not that I want to die at a tragically young age, but I do not want to reach a really old age. I don't want to be where one's body is obviously shutting down, and one gets all the problems associated with being elderly. I wouldn't want to be living relying on medication or things like that. That mindset- that "If I don't take my medicine at this time or my [insert vital organ here] will shut down" mindset- just isn't living at all to me.
I'm sorry, I went on a mini-tangent. I've just been thinking far too much about my own mortality lately for no reason- it's just been entering my mind on random occasions.
As for your question, I'd like to die either doing something I love or quietly in my sleep with no knowledge of dying. It'd be morbidly amazing to die onstage, but I wouldn't want to cause a worry or a panic mid-show, so I'd rather pass on after the show, when the theatre is empty. Just lie on the stage and be done with it.
I don't want to die anytime soon, thank you. Things are too good right now.

I don't care so much where I die as how I die. Preferably quickly (e.g. a car crash) than some long drawn out illness.

Car crash is the worst. Not only is it terrifying, it's gruesome. I wouldn't want to end up a mangled piece of ground beef stuck between a windshield and an engine, lol.

I want to bne able to sing "Lament" from EVITA and the last verse of "Gethsemane."
I could see my self singing on my deathbed "Bleed me, beat me, kill me. Take me now!..." Then, I'm out.
Yes, I want to go out naturally, but dramatically. Hopefully God has a sense of humour.

Yea...we saw a bunch of car crash pictures in drivers' ed...and everyone who ended up dying in one either
a) lost their eyeballs (actually, most of the pictures...they didnt have eyeballs...  )
b) lost a limb
c) got all cut up by their windshield (like...their head going through it)
d) Their brain flew out of their head (seriously...there was one picture where it was like laying on the road a few feet from the crash)
e) Or they went brain dead and died at the hospital.
For me atleast, none of those ways of dying sound appealing to me. I'm terrified of car crashes.  I had nightmares about those pictures for days...

I want to die peacefully in my sleep at a good old age - before I turn in to someone that can't truly live without medication or something, but I want to leave without any regrets or unresolved problems - and I want to die happy.

I don't really have a preference as to how I die. The way I see it, it's going to happen one way or the other, so even if I have a preference, it's not like it's going to matter much.

A car crash would be last on my Ways I Would Prefer To Die List. I've been in three pretty bad crashes already, so the mere idea scares me half to death. The sound of a car crashing into another, especially when you're in the one getting crashed into, is probably one of the most horrifying sounds you could ever hear. To hear that terrifying sound and have that be the last sound you hear would be the worst thing ever.

I'd like to die of old age, but definitely not from a painful, drawn-out illness. Something quick and relatively painless. I'd rather not be in front of a huge crowd of people, either. Just really close family and friends.
If I were in a vegetative state, I'd want them to pull the plug right away. If my family were selfish enough to keep me on life support if I'm in that condition, I'd be supremely pissed off.
...If I was actually aware of what was going on.

I knew someone who had a epileptic seizure while driving. He froze up and stopped on the accelerator, flew off the road, and his car burst into flames after striking a tree. They had to use his dental records to id the body.

That's fantastic.
I'm in agreeement with everyone who doesn't want to get old. I want to die before old age causes me to stop living, if that makes any sense. I don't want to have to depend on someone else to feed me and whatnot...because that's not living.
I want to die peacefully, and happily, in my sleep. Maybe like in The Notebook.
