Original Cats Painting

I found this original painting of Cassandra on ebay. I like the artist's interpretation of her and the coloring in the background. I wish he had painted the other characters, but no such luck.

He does pin-up art mostly.... most of its pretty good, but that Cassandra scares me... she looks a little strung out on the 'nip... Shocked
Cassandra

Hmmm.... interesting.... kinda creepy....

I wonder if RUG could give him some trouble for painting the logo. Or is it okay because it's not an exact copy of it; more of an artistic interpretation?
Drumdraper

I don't think RUG will do anything. It's an artistic representation and not really cashing in on the logo.

It would probibly fall into the catagory of pop art and unless someone was being a real stickler, probibly doens't have to worry about legal stuff unless he tries to sell it at a gallery or something.

It's an interesting interpritation of the character and I'd defenetly like to see how he sees the other charcters.

I love the way the background and logo are painted, but it looks sort of like a zombie Cass...o.o However, I like the detail of the unitard. The rest just sort of scares me. Plus it's pretty expensive.

Interesting find!

Interesting interpretation of the character but I find her quit scary Confused

I agree, a bit too creepy looking for my tastes!
Kragey

It's sort of like retro-meets-Tim-Burton, and lord knows, I love Tim Burton. I especially like how bright all of the colors are.

He needs to make a Misto some time soon. I'd snag it.

Doesn't it remind you to the famous painting "The Cry" from the European painter Munch??? It's certainly that style or maybe a bit of Vangogh too!!

This is The Cry from Munch.

Funny you mentioned that. I think it's a little reminiscent of Starry Night by Van Gogh.

^.^

I've seen loads of CATS inspired art in museums. Especially the Memphis museum of art in Tennessee, and one in the Popart center in Savannah GA.

So I'm sure it's fine.

and very cool looking to boot!

Yeah thats some scary stuff you have right there! I guess the style is interesting but Cass looks a bit erm...I dunno drugged?!
Etcetera Kitten

I think she looks a bit creepy. And her face is more like Griz than Cassandra. But that is just my opinion. I think the Buy it Now price is a bit high, thought, for pop art. But then I don't know much about painting pricing.

Original paintings are always worth more and if it's from a fairly well known artist or even just mildly heard of with a good technique then they are expensive. I forgot how much this one was up for now, but if the guy is well known that could explain it more.
