Orchestrations...I realized one of the reasons why I don't much like Wicked. The orchestrations are sort of... crappy. Especially "Defying Gravity", which is such a great song, but it's ruined by crappy orchestrations.
That is all. Thank you for your time.

Critique vs CriticismI may wish to interject here that one can offer opinions and critiques of musicals without undo chastizement... If one wishes to post a rebuttal, then the same rules apply. The object of a Forum is to debate on what is said - not the person saying it...

i was only saying that i dont think its fair to rip it! its good music and its very fitting there is a feeling of absence to the music...not in a bad way, which gives it an edge of magic or mystery (boy wait for somebody to jump down my throut at that comment!) which in turn builds on the story line

No, but someone else can. I'm not saying the music is bad--just the orchestrations.

I can.
In fact, I will.
And I would jump down your "throut," but I have no idea what you attempted to say in your second post.

Some of us suffer from not being able to write thoughts in a coherant manner. We all have our faults it would seem.
*ahem* Debate mode.
The orchestrations are hilarious at points. They try to make every song more than it is and it just points out how little the songs actually have going for them. At points they are overdone, not allowing for any appriciation of the music as it is but rather trying to wow with loud noises (though if they let people appriciate the music I doubt it'd be more enjoyable than the loud noises). At others they are just boring and you wish they would do SOMETHING interesting because the things being sung sure as hell arnt.
So basically they're so much there that you can't really appriciate whats being sung...which is bad. But when they try to back off and let one appriciate the singing (lyric wise and just vocally), you realize that you kinda wish you didn't have to hear it

Yes, LoneWanderer, you hit the nail right on the head. That is so right. I also just dislike that sort of beeping or twinkling sounds... whatever it is during "Defying Gravity". I just feel (as LW) said, it takes away from such a great song.
