Opinions on the show.

I recently saw a production of Bye Bye Birdie and thought it was horrendous. I didn't really like the story line but it might just have been that the company had poorly performed it. So, after seeing that many people love it I think it was just the poor cast that made the show that I saw horrible. Does anyone have any opinions on the show? It would be most appreciated! I was Albert in the show and while I kinda enjoyed being in it, I definitely dislike the show and would have enjoyed doing another show much more. It's a very poor show in my opinion.

It's not a great show. I was in the Ensemble for it a few years ago, and it was fun, but I probably wouldn't do the show again. The music is a bit "pop"ish, and the plot is significantly flimsy. The dance numbers are fun, though.

i dont know... i enjoyed Bye Bye Birdie.
granted I was only 17 when i was in the chorus, but i still think it was a bit of light fluffy entertainment...
its good for the young 'uns.

Its just kinda cutsey. I like it, its fun to be in and a great high school quality musical, but after that...eh, no.

Its a terrible show. theo nly role that is really written perfectly is Mr. McAffee. because Paul Lynde was hired to do the role and they wrote it with him in mind. of course this also leads many other actors to do a bad Paul Lynde imitation or to just play the role in ways that make the character less strong.

Rosie has some good songs and Mr. McAfee's "Kids" is the show stopper. but apart from that..dull,dull,dull.

I didn't really like it until I was in it. It's a great show to be a part of!! I didn't think much of it when I went to see it, though. Coincidentally, I have had "Healthy Normal American Boy" stuck in my head all day.

The show seemed a little weak after Act I, in my opinion. I remember seeing it at a local high school and they did it great but it abruptly ended. The show is a great show to be in, but certainly not something I'd die to see.

The show isn't THAT amazing. But it's really cute. I think it's more of a middle school-high school show. It really isn't that challenging, but it is soooo much fun.

That's what I think about it. haha. Very Happy

I didn't like it. I played in the pit for it (violin) and just hearing the music that we had to play was horrible. Matched up with a weak plotline and cheesy songs... not so good.

Maybe that was just our production of it, but I think it would be pretty hard to make it a decent show. The plot just... isn't strong enough.

The only reason I've ever seen this show was because I had to (a niece played Kim, nephew in the chorus)
Not a good show in my opinion....very dull, boring songs, poor characters.
As Salome said, the best written role is Mr. McAfee, and most people tend to do a poor Paul Lynde impression.

I'd never pay to see it again.
