Opening Night!!Well, last night (Thursday) was opening night for our production of Guys and Dolls....and it was smashing!
We did have some technical issues....drops coming in at the wrong time, light cues a little off, scene changes taking too long, etc., etc. But the performance itself was great!!
It was a smaller audience...which is expected for a Thursday night, but they were full of energy! They laughed at every joke, and clapped for every musical number, and did a little hootin' and a hollerin', they were fantastic. When I did the "Lament" they loved it! They really liked Adelaide! "Sue Me" was a hit! And the "Crapshoooter's Ballet" was awesome! The audience just ate it all up!
At the end of the show we got a standing ovation and they even had us come back for an encore bow!!!
I am so glad it went well! Now we only have 3 more shows...tonight, and then 2 shows on Sat...I wish we were doing more! It is a fantastic show!!
Anyway, I was just really happy with how well it turned out and wanted to share

IMPORTANT QUESTION!!!I am glad your performance went so well. It is such a fun show, I know the feeling of not wanting it to end!! Can you answer something for me? I need to know what key or note the song I'll Know starts with in your book? There are so many versions out there and I am working towards a sarah part and I need to practice it high!!! If you could let me know I would really appreciate it!!! good luck tonight!

K, I grabbed my score from my car....I couldn't tell you what key it's in, but it has an F#, G#, and C#
And the notes start off like so:

It may also help to check out this recording:Guys and Dolls (1995 Studio Cast) (First Complete Recording) [CAST RECORDING]. All the songs are played the entire way through in the original key..very helpful.

thanks so much for that info on I"LL KNOW!!!! I was hoping it was high, as my biggest competition is an alto!!! Now I can practice it in the right key. Your performance sounds like it was smashing!!! I wish I could see it. good luck to you!

Well, it's all over!
Unfortunately, we only had four shows of Guys and Dolls! But it turned out great! I am sad that we only did one weekend....we were supposed to have two weekends but the theatre "accidentally" scheduled something else over our second weekend! Oh well!
On to the next show!
