OPEN CALL for POTO Vegas

OK all you potential Christines & Raouls, they are having an outright open call for these 2 roles for the Vegas cast.

And don't tell me to post it in the POTO topic. Not everyone who can sing these roles are necessarily POTO fans who read that forum.

Emmy Rossum better keep her butt far, far away from this.

Wow. Shocked

1. I wish I was older so I could audition.
2. I wish I lived somewhere near Vegas, instead of on the other side of the country. Or near enough to New York so that if I was old enough, it wouldn't be so inconvenient. And far.

Oh how wonderful. An open call for a show like that! Pretty amazing. And for the leads, too. Wonder what that's all about.

I'm breaking inside that I can't go. This is why I am moving to a bigger city. So I can be closer to better auditions. If ony I had moved to Phoenix a year earlier, Vegas wouldn't be too long a drive. Crying or Very sad

Open calls generally occur becuz they are seeking performers who are too young to have landed an agent.

Damn. I'm just able to hit an E and I live half way across the country...never mind the whole too young thing. But good luck, SingerDoll. If you ever need an understudy, I'll be old enough soon!

I'm not equity. Not to mention that I live in Indiana.

It's an OPEN call. They have eq calls for this show constantly. I wouldn't bother posting those.

Damn. I knew there was some reason I was suppose to move to Vegas.

Haha.. Thanks everyone! I am excited just to meet the man ALW.

Just lastnight I was recording with some friends and they asked me to sing Christine's cadenza at the end of "The Phantom of the Opera". I did the song not too long ago (week maybe) and sure enough, we were laughing because when I hit the notes I had a glow on my face everyone could see and we all started laughing when the song was through.

THANK YOU! SO TRUE!

And don't let it crush you if you don't get it, Singerdoll... I think one of the biggest mistakes a newcomer to auditioning professionally can make is to build up an audition too much...Then when the panel says, "Next!" They're totally shattered. Don't go in there to get the job...go in there to do your own best and have fun! Smile

Those of us who have done this for a long time know that you tend to do better if you relax...Which, I guess comes from going to a TON of these things!

Very Happy

I know what you mean. As far as ALW, it says he will be "driectly involved with the auditioning of this role", I could see where your logic was, I thought that would take a TON of time for his busy schedule.
Being relaxed is going to be the first and most difficult hurdle to get over. I get anxios and a bit nervous even still for auditions, but my second broadway audition (first in the city), I know I will be crazy nervous, any suggestions?
Also- I am just glad I will be auditioning for the role, I think I would kick myself for a long time if I didnt...

Ooooooooooooooooooh I wish I could go there Crying or Very sad

Please excuse me for all this rant Wink

How did your audition go, SingerDoll?
Megan the Phantom Girlie

I could probably sing for Christine, but it'd have to be like in the Terry Pratchett book with a body double.

Honestly? I feel lucky to have landed Miss Pennywise.
jcstar

I wonder if they'll be holding open auditions again? If so, I'll hichhike to Las Vegas if I can't fly or drive there.

Very Happy

Andy.

Well, it's opened.

Phantom of the Opera – Las Vegas opened July 14.

http://www.phantomlasvegas.com/

The show is trimmed down to 95 minutes and some of that is due to the rapid set changes and no intermission. They do 10 shows a week with the Phantom, Christine, and Carlotta double cast. They spent $40 million on the theater and the show is heavy on special effects.

USA Today calls it “An only-in-Vegas thrill ride”

I think I'll pass, thanks. Wink
