Open Auditons...So I just watched a bunch of these, they were for colleges to get scholarships here are the rules:
Whole thing must be two minutes long and you can have two monologues or to musical numbers or one musical number and one monologue or one long musical number or one long monologue.
So I was watching this girl standing up and I saw her with the Wicked CD in hand and first off I could see this was going to be bad, next thing I know she is singing with wicked and Idina Menzel! She had no Minus Track. Then third was she got far in the song and they told her time was up, so she thought it was now time to do her monologue. It was so awkward... I wanted to do something. Her voice was ok though.
Then another girl did her monologue which was pretty good, then she was about to sing "Popular" and the piano player played the first notes and she just stood there and completely turned red. Then she walked out almost in tears saying she forgot the words.
It was so sad to watch these things happen I really wanted to hand them a sheet explaining theatre Do's and Don’ts

Well, one probably shouldn't bring a backing track if you know an accompanist will be there.
Maybe we need a list of audition DOs and DONTs somewhere. Maybe in the READ ME before you ask for audition advice thread. Hmmmm...

Never use backing tracks for an audition. and never sing "Popular'.

I was just saying a backing track was one step above the tracks with voices on it.
But thats a better point, I'm sure someone can splurge $12.99 and buy the score! And singing the Wizard and I instead of popular is free!
