Are you looking for one act plays or musicals?
Ulla Dance Again!

Sorry Wrong Number by Lucille Fletcher

^This is a great and cheap source for one act plays/musicals, as well as full plays and musicals!

I think Soap Opera by David Ives can be AMAZING, if done right. You definately need a perfect cast with that one
Imy

My college just did two nights of one acts. Some of the plays that went over really well were:

"English Made Simple" by David Ives
"Breaking the Chain" by Michael Bigelow Dixon
"The Actor's Nightmare" by Christoper Durang
"Words, Words, Words" by David Ives

I saw Actor's Nightmare at a festival once, I think the cast wasn't that good but with a good one it could be well done.

I'd recommend Check, Please. It's good if you have a lot of people, I think it's 8 male 8 female characters, but I'm not 100% sure.

The great thing about this play is that all of the dates can be played by two or more actors. The min. for the play is four, the max is pretty high. Still, it's short (only about fifteen minutes long by my count), so you have to think about that.

The Bald Soprano is always a hit!

I love Actor's nightmare. Ip layed Sarah in a production about 4 years ago.

as for David Ives..ugh..the man is so over rated.. all of his plays are just thweatrical masterbation. He loves to hear his own words.

Ooh I was going to mention that one! The Bald Soprano is really funny. I saw that one a few years ago at a one act festival.

I know that Next Door is supposed to be really funny too.

I've been in a few one acts, but they weren't very comedic... except After Liverpool had its moments of being funny as did The General of Hot Desire.

May I randomly ask where (*Sears*hint*Drama*hint*Festival*)?

Oh yeah about Check, Please, it's more of a show that's fun to see once. I did it at a festival in february and got great audience response, but our cast was so tired of it after a few rehearsals.

Oh no... it was for the Maine Drama Festival. Each year they pick a different high school to host (my old high school got to host twice, which is pretty cool).

Hard Candy is pretty popular, as is Sure Thing. I can't be arsed to remember the authors though.
Annie

Quiet Torrential Sound by John Ackermann is hilarious, particularly if you read the subtext right. Two other students and I just did it for our Text class final (I was Monica), and it went over very well. It's a real crowd pleaser.
