Once On this Island

Tell me about once on this island

Thanks

Fantastic score--probably my favorite of the early 90's
I highly recommend the Broadway cast recording--fantastic performances all around, esp. LaChanze and Jerry Dixon. This show needs a major revival! I still highly regret that I was in New Hampshire when I my friends were in it at the local HS--I missed a fantastic show!

I love LaChanze (although I only know of her from the 1995 Revival of Company and I saw clips of jer in The Color Purple.

I was in it (the production fender mentioned actually) as Papa Ge (the god of death).

It was hot.

It is deffinatly the show I liked the most as a show of the productions I have been in.

If you want a synopsis...I suggest googling one up as that shouldn't be too difficult. And yes, get the cast recording if you can, it gives you an idea of the feel of the show.

The show is almost all singing. If you get the cd you will get the plot. I had to see it (at tech reshereals(sp)) to totally understand it. Orphan falls in love with a prince and it is all about her going against the God of Death because of love. I really love it, the score is great, and the dancing was stunning in Music Circus's production.

My school is perfroming it for our spring musical. I'm not in it but I'm on stage crew and the music is really nice. It's pretty good overall!

Yeah, it is an awsome show.

I was in the junior version when I was nine, as Erzulie, the love goddess. I'd love to be able to do it again, but I'm quite white, which is important.

I fell in love with the junior version and later the full show. It was my first real musical and remains a sentimental favorite. The girls who played Agwe and Daniel remain among my closest friends. And I still sing Why We Tell The Story to myself all the time.

I can tell you now that not being in this musical is one of my biggest regrets this year. I did soccer instead. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I honestly practically cried when I found out I couldn't try out, because I wouldn't be able to do it.

It's official. I'm quitting soccer. Applause Applause

I saw it on a trip to Sacramento.. staged in the round... fantastic show, brilliant production!

I just don't understand how Daniel could be a female...unless you're playing a same sex storyline...which would be rare for this show...and really going against copyright.
