On The Town dance question!!

Hi all!

I've just been cast in a production of "On The Town" as The Great Lover, and I have a big question for you all! I'm some what familiar with the show, and I know that the Great Lover character dances in the Imaginary Coney Island scene, but exactly how much does he dance and to what style? Is it very balletic, or more of the athleticism that you see in alot of Jerome Robbins choreography? It's not really that similiar to other types of imaginary ballet characters like The Fair Ground Boy or Dream Curly is it?

I'm just curious to know how large this Great Lover dance will be, and perhaps what he does in it! Anyone who has seen productions of this that could give me the run down I would be REALLY grateful for!

Thank you so much!

I'm trying to remember...it was 3 years ago when i did it...in our production the lover didnt dance THAT much it was maybe 1 or 2 minutes...maybe? i'm not quite sure. The type of dancing depends on your chorepgraphaer. but it's deifnitely not break dance or anything like that Wink because the music is quite toward the classical style at that point. but again, your chorepgrapher will decide. but it's not really ballet either.

hope this helps!
