shakalakababy

hmm....I wonder who the actors will be
The Very Angry Woman

DefinItely.
Belle

Well, there's a RUMOUR - unconfirmed and possibly only wishful thinking - that Helen Dallimore and Adam Garcia, both Australians, will reprise their roles as Glinda and Fiyero respectively. They're both leaving the London production...
Megziid

Helen Dallimore

Said in a radio interview about two weeks ago that she had been offered the role, but that no dates had been set. If she is not otherwise engaged it will be her.
happyguava

Yay Helen!!

Yay Wicked!!

I can't wait!!!!

I am rather excited!! I wish there was a role for a 16 year old girl. I think lots of 16 year old girls feel the same way! But hoorah Wicked!!!!

*end of over-punctuating*

Currently, Dallimore is making her West End debut as Glinda in the Original London Company of Stephen Schwartz's hit Broadway musical, Wicked, originally opposite Broadway's original Elphaba Idina Menzel. (The role has since been taken over by Kerry Ellis). Dallimore will give her final performance as Glinda in London on July 14, 2007. She is also considering to reprise her role as Glinda in the Australian production of Wicked which is set to open in 2008.

Please don't use all Caps. I know you are excited, but EVERYTHING IN CAPS LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tends to be very obnoxious.
wickedboy

I've heard rumour that perhaps one of the former US Elphaba's will reprise the role for the Australian production. I know Eden's contract runs out in LA later this year, and Shoshana has already been in two productions as well, so they might both be contenders. For some reason I can't see Idina reprising again. Any thoughts or confirmations flying around about this? I could imagine Kerry might be in mind as well, but I don't know when her London contract expires.

lol we're keeping kerry for a while yet.

i was amused when you said "flying around" when talking about wicked lol

RANDOM FACT:

Every actress who has played Elphie on Broadway has played her in atl east two thoer productions.
happyguava

I'd like to have our own Elphaba. Yes, it would be cool to have Eden or someone, but it'd be so great if we could have an Aussie one. Even if they did it like in London and started it off with someone big but then the standby takes over. I just don't want to see an exact replica of one of the US productions down here.
Megziid

No need for an import

We have too many talented Aussie performers who deserve the work. I could understand bringing in an overseas performer to try and sell the show if they were known, but none of the broadway names are (sadly) unheard of over here.

Amanda Harrison, Belinda Wollaston, Tamsin Carroll, Kate Maree Hoolihan... they could all play Elphaba so well. Please give it to an Aussie!
sherwills

Hope to see an Australian Elphie. Also hope that when I visit Australia in Feb next year, Wicked will be on by then. Mr. Green

You guys are lucky...we still don't have a production here in Canada *sniff* Crying or Very sad ...oh well, at least a got to see the tour when it came here (I was lucky enough to see Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty Mr. Green) . But I would still like to see a Canadian production with homegrown talent.

Anyway, I congratulate you guys on finally obtaining the rights to your own production. I'm sure you will love it Very Happy

How cute are the individual Wicked websites.

I read in Playbill today that it's premiering in Melbourne in July 2008. Shame cuz I'm coming in Feb. A little too early Sad

Who's the perfect Aussie Fiyero? David Campbell is too short for that role I reckon... no offense to him... His height looks more like a Munchkinlander... a Boq. He's got great performing talent though.
wicked_boy

I've just subscribed to the Wicked in Australia e-mails.

It's funny as in, Oz (Wizard of Oz) is in Oz (Australia). It's confusing.

I'd love to see David Campbell as Fiyero!

I know she's probably overqualified for the role but I'd like to see Judi Conelli as Madame Morrible!
TR_Wolf

This had to be done...

Mistress

Penny Lane

I can't wait to see this!! I've heard Idina is signing on.. I can't believe I might get to see Idina Menzel IN THE FLESH!! So exciting!!
wicked_boy

^ Where'd you find this info?
Joshua

'Twas what I was wondering. I looked it up and couldn't find it anywhere. Confused
happyguava

I thought I read that Idina is definitely not involved.
Mistress

Meh, I think there's been too much Idina...we need a some new Elphies...
wicked_boy

^ There's a brand new tour Glinda that I've never seen before.
Buff Daddy

Auditions have been announced starting 2 December.

Buff Very Happy
yoss991

idina....?

isnt it a little weird that idina and taye are here in aus around the same time as wicked auditions...?I dont think that she'd really need to audition - but it is still a little too coincidental....?

Idina Please Play Elphie in Oz!!!
actor

^ How do you know they are in Australia?

If she does play Elphie again, I will be the first to book a flight over there!

Also, does anyone have any info on the auditions?
yoss991

on idina's website there is a link to a video on youtube with taye and idina's australian vacation. it was posted on the 13th of december when apparently they were still here.... around the same time as the US production team were here for the auditions..... maybe it is a coincidence...but maybe no - hopefully!!!!!
happyguava

Stuff about auditions was on the news a week or so ago. As in, not an open call. Just reporting that auditions were held.
Da_Dark_Dude

From working on the London version of wicked, there are a few rumours in the office that Helen Dallimore will be Galinda in Aus (Oz??). However from what I know Idina's currently in voice therapy... so she may not be Elphaba
