Old Deuteronomy's CostumeOne more question...
Has anyone built one? I've been nominated to make DH's, and I can't tell whether it's just a big rectangle of fabric with arm holes or if there's some actual shape to it. And is it open on the bottom or are there leg holes?

My tutor used to make it for the London production... It's simple, but does have arms. big rectangle front and back, with fairly wide tube arms. It's a long robe, open bottom. Watch the video, beginning of the Ball, when Misto hides behind Deut and he calls back Victoria and Jemima.
heh, actually I can't remember what shots the video has of that, I can only visualise the scene onstage. But anyway, Misto shaking the robe shows how it moves nicely.
You could make it out of 3 rugs - Ikea had some very suitable ones last time I was in!

I was just thinking I wish I still had my latchhook rug kit!
So basically a "T" pattern then? That's easy enough provided my machine will let me sew that fabric!

My friend and I made a quick one out of a sheet and yarn xD We just glued the sheet in a few places that gave it sleeves, then glued yarn all over it. It was hard, but it actually looked pretty good.

If you have pictures of it I'd love to see them; and sorry for just jumping in.
Ya know my Mom always says that his costume does look like latchhook so perhaps if you can find the latchook canvas in sheets, or something simular, you could just cut your own yard and use that. And I know that you can buy the hooks seperatly so maybe if you found a canvas with large enough squares you could buy a large hook that way it would go togeether very quickly.
Then for the shoes maybe make strips of latchhook and glue them on with with very strong fabric or hot glue. I've got a picture if them if you'd like to see them; just let me know.

Sorry, Tigress, I don't have any pictures and my friend has probably lost what we finished of it 
We need to make a new one for a tiny production we're in, so if I can get pics of the new one I'll post them =)
