What Is This Feeling?

Ok, I just saw the film...

Let me tell you I think it is a gem. By all standards. The acting was great, I think the adaptation was well done. Two things IRKED me. The unrealistic death of Judge Turpin. (Warning :

BADSPEECH AHEAD:

Since when is there a freaking body organ in a throat? It looked like Turpin just had a freaking climax of some kind! His blood shooted to the window. It was like he was wizzing. Too cartoony. It personally had a bad taste in my mouth for a bit.And the metaphor of how the more innocent of people the blood just slides down the throat, and the evil corrupt ones have blood fluid climaxes?!

Anyway, also the ending was a bit abrupt. Maybe I'm just partial to the msical's ending instead.

Otherwise, great performances, Helena and Johnny were FANTASTIC!

I agree...

Everyone was talking about how gory it was....I was expecting worse...until the judge's death. Then it was like, whoa!!!! And he survived!!! Unreal!

I also missed the Final Ballad, but this one made a unique exit from the movie theatre. No one in the entire audience was talking. I hadn't been in an exit like that since Passion of the Christ.

Isn't the carotid artery in the throat? That would explain some of the spray.
Brock07

Yeah, I think it seemed pretty realistic. More so than Kill Bill....like a fire hose of blood. Yeah right.
ConverseSneaker

*&#$@!*&#!@!

Would you believe that the closest movie theatre playing Sweeney Todd is across the border and hours away from me? Not a single bloody theatre is playing it! Evil or Very Mad
Brock07

Well it has been out for a while, even though its supposed to be going into wider release....

But if it's been like that since the begining, that sucks #(#&^$.
musical_maven

yeah, if i want to see it again I'll have to drive to a thatre an hour a way! Now I'm just waiting for it to come out on DVD. Lets hope the time between now and the release goes quickly!

yes that is carotid artery. it is a major artery. and it so pressurized that the blood would spray like that if you were to puncture it.

Never even came close to here. Crying or Very sad I want to see my Sweeney!
ConverseSneaker

YES!

a month after it opens, it has finally come!

Oh wait. Now I need to find someone willing to sneak an underage teen into the theatre. Dang it!
zombiefl12

Depending on your theater, it might be easier than you think to get in. Two of my friends and I (16, 16, and 17) got one of our parents to buy the ticket (for that's the only time they id here) and then we had no problem getting into the theater. Also, we were the first in there and there were also kids who couldn't look much older than 13 or 14 getting in without any parents...so it might not be so hard after all.

However, the safest (and guarranteed) way is to get a parent or adultish (21+) friend to take you.

Your parents won't get you in? After all, it is a musical. Minimal sexuality, drug use, and language, and the violence is awfully cartoony.

SWEENEY OPENS IN AUSTRALIA IN ONE SLEEP!!!

And exactly the sort of movie they would hate. They like romantic comedies *gag* and if there's one thing they would never watch, it's horror. They probably wouldn't care if I went, but they probably wouldn't take me. So I need to bribe a friend into giving me transportation and possibly buying my ticket if I need them to.

In my neck of the woods, the parents don't have to go in to see the movie. They just have to give their consent.
ConverseSneaker

It's not thier consent I'm worried about, it's how I am going to get the movie theatre?

I can't legally(or illegally) drive yet and it's not like it's two streets down from my house. It's about a 30 minute drive from here.
Kragey

Why don't you go with them to the theater, but go to two separate movies?
