Oh the excitementOur shchool is performing Joseph and the entire cast is so excited. We have been rehersing for three months but it still feels so fresh! Everybody cant wait until the 3d of May when we have our "Openning Night" lol
We just began choreography last night (one of our director's sister is doing the choreography.) It looks so good and although we only practiced it once, we look like pros And our choreographer is awesome! Last year, the play we did has amateur-ish choreography, very elementary school standard. (The director thought that some people were not confortable to do anything more complicated than a great fine ) BUt this completely surpasses any of the choreography our school has ever done.
And the singing? TOP QUALITY! Our narrator is a classicaly trained soprano, and man does she have a range! her tone is a little mushy and quiet, but nothing good miking can't do. And the hentire cast has really strong voices.
The sets are only starting to take shape, but they are looking good too. Of course, nothing at par with broadway, but still good considering our budget. And one of our teachers, Mr Hughes, is creating all the "difficult" costumes. He did the crocodile costume in Peter Pan last year, and itr was very effective and creative.
Umm... What I said about the choreograph being above standard - Forget that - the entire show is above any standards our school has set for us. Sure Peter Pan was great - but Joseph is going to be Amazing! lol
On that note - let the curtain up
Ps - please feel free to share your experiences here.

...Grapevine? Great line?
I've never had that problem, the director at my school is VERY ambitious (and a little unrealistic at times, but I won't mention that...) Sounds like a pretty good production, though!

Argh. Sorry, major pet peeve of mine. I was in a production once that -- I'm not gonna lie -- pretty much stunk, and this one group of people kept making threats: "if the director doesn't blah blah blah, I'M QUITTING!" It made me so angry; I mean, I can understand quitting a show for a legitimate reason... But if you make a commitment to the show, it's just a really crappy thing to do to drop out just because you think you're too good for it. Especially if there's only three weeks left!
I'm glad you're stickin' it out.

Hey....just to update you guys on our show...
We definately went out with a bang we played to sold out (or almost sold out) audiences, as well as our classmates. I really don't think theres one person who didn't enjoy the show. We actually got a standing ovation on thursday night!!!
Every performance ran so smoothly. At first we had a few mic problems, our CD skipped, and I missed my cue once (it was before grovel grovel. My costume was taking an unusually long time to put on, and I still needed my egyptian makeup on. I casually walked onstage first and apparently none of the audience noticed. But what was worse was I couldn't find the "on" button on my mic pack, so when my verse was over i casually searched for it. lol)
Everyone couldn't be any better in their parts, even our new narrator and butler (the old narrator quit, and no offence, but i think it was a blessing, because took the negative energy away from the cast.) It was almost like we all grew into our roles so much that onstage, we were actually the person who we were playing. At the end of our last performance, I swear everyone in the cast (even the teachers and the guys) were either crying or really really close to tears. our last show was very emotional, and when it was over, it was still hard to accept. We all had developed really close friendships over these past four months, but they grew even stringer in the past three days.
It truly was an "Amazing, Technicolour" experience (ok i know that was corny lol)
