Oh My...I Found a Trailer for Mama Mia

http://movieclock.com/aw/cvpa.aw/e/188274/Mamma_Mia.html

It actually looks...good...very interested to see whether Firth, Brosnan or Streep can sing but it certainly looks like fun....the really good news is that Christine Baranski is playing Tanya.
Salome

Brosnan's role doesnt sing.

Streep is an excelent singer.

Stelan Skaarsgard is the one i really want to see the film for.
Joshua

That trailer's been out. I saw it when I went to see Sweeney Todd a few months ago.
Luc

I'm so stoked for this!
MusicalGal1194

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I'm so excited for this!!!!!!!!
shakalakababy

I'm...not excited for this?
I thought Mamma Mia was the worst show i had ever seen. But oddly enough i think the movie looks like it might actually be better, still not good, but better.
mastachen

Agreed, I have a feeling this movie will be a lot less boring than the musical. Anyways, doesn't Pierce Brosnan's role, Sam, sing SOS, or a bit of Mamma Mia? I might be getting the men confused. lol

I'm pretty sure all of the Dads sing.
mastachen

Ah yeah, but I was only asking cuz Dawn said Brosnan's role doesn't sing.
Luc

I'll check my script later to clarify on that...

Yeah, I remeber Sam sang Knowing Me Knowing You
Kiwi

I want to see this for: Brosnan, Skarsgard, Firth, Streep, and that hot guy playing whosey-whatsit.

Mamma Mia!

I saw the trailer months ago. I'm looking forward to it because I think it will be a really polished film version of a musical that is a great deal of fun and one of the few jukebox musicals that actually works on stage.

If you think it's the worst or most boring show you've ever seen - well, clearly you haven't seen Fame, We Will Rock You, Destry Rides Again and oh so many, many other musicals I can think of that are much, much worse than Mamma Mia.

I don't know much about this show but the house looks very similar to the set of the stage version, I really appreciate that.

I thought this thread was gonna be about putting your Mom in the Trailer Park. Hopefully in Florida.
Brock07

I think there are two trailers out....check out IMDB. I think that one is the older one...the newer one is better.
Pounce

After seeing the show four times, I think the question of whether the show is good or not depends a great deal on the cast (but then again that is often the case). The orginal cast of Tour 2 in the US were really good!

You got that right...I found another trailer that has a snippet of her singing...and damn she's good! When the hell did she learn to sing?
Salome

she been singing her whole life.

didnt you see Prairie Home Companion 2 years ago?
Chevstriss

Streep was major contender for the movie of Evita until marketing decided Madonna would pull in a younger demographic.

She actually recorded the entire score for ALW. Some people claim to have heard snippets.
Salome

Streep would have made that film work! She would have nailed the role. Madonna was too sympathetic and too one note.
Mistress

Yeah, but I think Madonna looked more like Eva Peron than Streep would've...but yeah I had no idea she was actually a trained singer...I didn't even see her in Prairie Home Comapanion...I think I juat assumed that she would've been dubbed (which I now know is a travesty of a mistake)

Anyway...any guesses as to what Stallan Skarsgaard's gonna sound like?
Or Colin Firth for that matter...what the hell...I'm gonna see for Streep anyway...but imagining Brosnan trying to sing is a scary thought Shocked

I haven't seen the stage show, but my parents saw it when it came here and they loved it. I love Abba's music and I love the cast recording! I think this looks like one fun show! I think it will be a great one.

It kind of reminds me of Hairspray's trailer when it first came out. Not many people knew it (at least my friends I mean) but they thought it looked like a fun show, and they saw it and enjoyed it so much and I am sure that is how this will turn out.

Streep / Madonna / HBC

Or "Me", the fabulous opening sequence of Death Becomes Her?

Meryl Streep would have been ideal for Evita. As for Madonna - she was, at least, a little less one-note than dear Helena Bonham Carter was in Sweeney Todd. The more I watch that film, the more I become frustrated by her vocals and her acting of the role. Still, I guess both films had (mainly structural) problems that superseded either actress's contribution to her respective vehicle.
