My wife being lactose intolorent marks the day the "Silk Nog" on her calendar every year! She then buys like a case of the stuff to last through the holidays.

Oh, GAWD, I'd love to buy a whole case, but have no place to put it!
I already drank half of it last night and the other half this morning. Good thing I'm doing a big grocery trip today and can buy more!!

There was an accident outside of my school this morning, and it knocked all the power lines out; we were sent home at 10:30, so I went to Atlanta Bread Company with some friends. A few hours later, we got a call that the power had come back, so we went back to school for a Grease rehearsal. And I got my dress for the prom scene - it's horrific, and I love it Smile
hyperactress23

So... My English teacher made me read today. She always picks me for the really dramatic scenes. (We're in the drama unit, currently reading Fences.)

Normally I'd be fine with reading, even enjoy it. But I have a headache and couldn't read right and kept screwing up the lines...
SmallTownIngenue

Ugh. I am kind of heartbroken right now. About a month ago, I was planning on transferring to another college in ND that actually has a great up and coming MT program, but after many tear-filled fights with my parents I won't be able to transfer until next year (but I'm also looking at Roosevelt in Chicago and Milikin maybe).

So today, I just got an email from the MT director at that college and she told me they are having auditions for Tick, Tick, Boom on Sunday and that she would love to hear me sing. Unfortunately, I had to tell her I won't be able to. It sucks, because I would have LOVED the opportunity to play Susan.

I just can't wait to finish out the year here so I can go somewhere that actually takes theater seriously and isn't taught by hacks who only give lectures on egotistical stories about themselves. Rolling Eyes

At least the first semester is almost over.

So I just found out at rehearsal for an acting scene I'm at college in that I am going to be performing it in the campus cafe tomorrow. Oh, did I mention the scene is about two friends having lesbian feelings for each other? Shocked I am a little mortified about performing it in a restaurant, especially in the midst of my fellow students/peers, but I am an actor and this will be a good experience for me that will REALLY push me out of my comfort zone. It will also really help capture the tone of the scene, since it actually does take place in a restaurant.

Should be an experience.

When you make a dramatic announcement that you're leaving and then show up again a few days later trying to be nonchalant about it, it's bound to get mentioned in passing. Don't look too hard for personal conflict that doesn't exist.

I just saw a short film online .... it sent chills down my spine. The acting was brilliant. And I'm not saying I'm bias because I know the lead actor. But ... it was just ... flawless. Have you ever seen the 1929 film with the musical prologue including Tess Gardella? It's a must see for anyone interested in the timeline of Showbaot.

But, no, I have not seen the full film because I can't find it anywhere! Someone uploaded a bad quality copy of it on YouTube a while back and I saw about half of it. It was very interesting as it was even more faithful to Edna Ferber's novel. I believe she kills Captain Andy off half way. Boo!! lol.

The Parthy in that film version scares me half to death though.

Guess what I have on Monday Smile

An audition...I haven't signed up yet, but I don't have symphonic band Monday night & there are auditions from 6-10 pm (you sign up for a period of time) and I get out of class at around 7:00 or so. So I can audition. I feel so happy right now. It's Orpheus Descending. So ... any recommendations would be great. I need to find out if it's monologue/cold reading, though ... no where is being explicit. Oh, and Ana -- the director double majored in Russian and Theatre at your university.

I'm not expecting to get in, but I'm going to try!

Thanks for that. I did not know some of those facts, such as the discovery of the missing prologue footage featuring Helen Morgan and Jules Bledsoe. I have the audio of those but have never seen the film. That's wonderful!

Most of what I know about the show is from memory from reading Miles Kreuger's excellent book about the show and that was written like, decades ago. I wonder how many lost things they've since found, if any.

I don't think I'd be qualified to get into the archives...yet. It will be at least another 2 years before I get my teaching credential. I'm a teacher's aide now but I doubt that is sufficient for access. I'll look into it. I had no idea it was even archived at UCLA. Thanks for the info!

I just found out two of my best friends, who have been in a relationship for almost two years together, split up. I'm honestly not surprised, as they have a lot of problems and she's moving back to Colorado (she transferred to the college he goes to so they could be together), and he's just been a terrible boyfriend lately.

I love them both, but I think the split is definitely for the best. He needs some time to stop being so immature and selfish, and she needs to learn to be on her own and do what she wants instead of only satisfying his needs. This also isn't the first time they've broken up, but I've got a feeling it's going to be the last.

This could just be a fluke, so don't panic yet. But if your next date is a screening of Liza Sings, you may want to raise an eyebrow. Wink

Three of my boyfriend's friends were in a really bad car accident this weekend - two seniors in high school, and one junior. They were all extremely intoxicated and the roads in their town are precarious, to say the least. One senior passed away from his injuries yesterday afternoon, and the other senior flatlined while in a coma last night. The junior, the only girl in the accident, is in ICU but is stable. He's really broken up about it.

It's such a horrible situation. I hate drunk driving. Sad
