yes yes yes!!
I think James Marsden would be a great Cinderella's prince.
Isn't Krisin Chenoweth doing the voice of Rapunzel in the Disney version??

Nooooo.

Jack -- James Marsden

What's with the obsession with having Jack so old? I can understand if he's maybe 20, but making him too old just makes it ridiculous. There's a reason they refer to him as "the lad."

Rapunzel's Prince -- David Hyde Pierce

This isn't as terrible as I first thought... I think I'd rather see them on stage than on film, but they could be a riot.

Rapunzel -- Kristin Chenoweth

Plain and simple, she's too old.
ilovebway

I really don't like the idea of Queen Latifah as The Witch and Kristin Chenoweth as Rapunzel.

And I'd rather see James Marsden as Cinderella's Prince than Jack.
Monsieur D'Arque

In a movie, there's no reason for the Narrator to be the Mysterious man...

But I can see a bit of logic in having the same actor play both Princes. These men are handsome and generic.
Kiwi

I'm loving David Hyde Pierce as Rapunzel's prince
ChorusKidx3

I'm not sure how this would do. Eh, i dont really know EXACTLY how it would go. hahaha. I love the music and i love you're casting ideas but it probably wouldnt do so well....well i dont know. Sweeney did well.

...well, there's no need for him to be the same in the production, either.
Monsieur D'Arque

In the show, it's a cool conceit that adds to the disconcerting nature of the show. As a movie, that trick wouldn't work as well. A film narrator is a disembodied voice, whereas a mysterious character is just that. A mysterious character, usually a cameo.
Monsieur D'Arque

For a Jack who's too old but not "too old," how about Christian Campbell?
TheatreGuy529

I have it I think:

What about:

Cinderella- Kristin Chenoweth
Shoshana Bean and Idina Menzel as either The Witch and The Bakers Wife(You pick and choose)
Joel Grey- Narrator/ Mysterious Man
Taye Diggs as a prince
Ashleigh Annaford(Current Glinda on broadway) as Rapunzel

Something about this seems super suspicious that you cast all Wicked people in the roles. Confused
And I have to say the only one I agree with is Joel Grey as the Narrator.
The rest, I think, would be crap.

It wouldn't be that bad. Unless of course she wore that hideous wig from the Les Miserables concert.
Joanna Gleason could do it... she's aged remarkably well from what I've seen.

Either you're very sarcastic or relatively new...

I'd like Joel Grey as the Narrator and Mysterious Man, though.

I can actually see Ruthie as being a convincing Witch.

No im not new. I just thought that they would be good. People underestimate Idina so much and it pisses me off.

I actually like Idina. I don't think she has a place in Into the Woods though, except maybe as Cinderella's Stepmother or something. Same for Kristin. Although I haven't seen Annaleigh Ashford perform live (you flip-flopped her name, by the way), I think she might be a good Rapunzel, now that I think about it. And I don't think Taye would be good at all (but then I'm not a huge Taye fan to begin with).

Me too.

And Joel Grey as the Narrator would be interesting.

Christopher Walken as the Mysterious Man.

I can't see Johnny Depp as the Baker. The Baker's sort of an Everyman character.
Amy Adams would be good. Alan Rickman seems a bit old (and arent the roles of the Wolf and Cinderella's Prince played by the same people?)
Trevor reincarnate

Johnny Depp can play anything.

And they don't have to be played by the same person in the movie just because they are on stage.

well, its scatalogical humor, really. that character, the prince, is like the wolf, too. the actor of the prince will have harrassed four girls by the end of the show-- LRRH, cinderella, the baker's wife, and sleeping beauty. It's just funny. I would support them being the same actor.
