Why I deserve this character: Mrs lovett Is one of my dream roles and I have always loved her. I feel to be cast as her (even if it is just on Musicals .net -which I love-) Would be a great honor. Also I do feel I have a Personality a little bit like Mrs lovett -Without the liking to bake people into pies.- I know I am new here but please do not hold that against me and not vote for me because I am a new person here if you are not going to vote for me do it because you think there is someone more deserving than me but once again Mrs lovett is a big dream role of mine and I would love to be her.

Characters I'm auditioning: Johanna Barker, Mrs. Lovett

Why I deserve these characters:

Johanna Barker: I have always loved the sweet innocence of this character and ever since I discovered Sweeney, it's always been one of my dreams to play her. I also like the fact that she (IMO) seems to represent the 'young woman who wants to live out her dreams and find true love' (and I can relate to that) but at the same time, she's not stupid. (And the fact that she shot Fogg in the asylum says a lot about her bravery!) I also love her songs in the production; the sad longing for freedom in "Green Finch and Linnet Bird", the frantic nervousness in "Kiss Me" and especially, the wistfulness in the 3rd reprise of "Johanna".

I will admit that I am only a mezzo-soprano, and I sometimes have trouble with the higher notes that she sings, but given the chance, I probably could act the part out well. (The loneliness and the madness.)

Mrs. Lovett: She is another character that I've always liked and I feel I could play this part with ease. And I think she's a character that you can somewhat idenify with (minus the people in pies part.) She's very quirky and clever, but at the same time, she's psychotic and almost evil in a way, and yet you can't help but feel kinda sorry for her when it comes to her loving Sweeney, but him not returning her affections. She's also got some great numbers! If I ever performed her part, I think it would be fun to do "A Little Priest" and "By the Sea"!

And her part's a bit easier vocally as well, I can sing her songs with little difficulty and I think acting-wise, it would come pretty naturally, I think.


I'm new when it comes to this forum-cast thing, so I don't expected to be picked, but I figured I'd give it a try!

I also don't have a picture I can post on here...sorry. (I'm not excatly comfortable putting one on the net even if I did have one.) I do happen to be blond if that'll help description-wise.

Characters I'm auditioning: beggar woman/Lucy Barker
Why I deserve these characters:
First of all, I'm completely obsessed with Sweeney. I own all the cast recordings, plus the soundtrack to the movie and spend most of my time just analyzing it, listening for subtle hints and musical nuances.

Though not a big character in any respect, the beggar woman is essential to the plot twist at the end and the message of the show-that vengeance destroys the avenger. Lucy is "his reason and his life"- he truly loved her and his daughter. They were everything to him. He thought that the world was a nice place for him to be blessed with such a wonderful family. Like Barker, Lucy is naive and sensitive-a gentle personality whose only aim in life is to be nice to other people. THough naive, she is steadfast in her love and devotion to her husband and does not act upon the requests of the Judge and Beadle.

I want to be Lucy for many reasons. On a personal note, I've played a character like her before- Louise (notice the similarities? Lucy?) from Ever After. Like Lucy, her husband was taken away on trumped up charges. She hadn't seen him for 10 years. He was sent to the Americas, and she was desolate because she thought she'd never see him again. My character did end up with a happy ending, being reunited with Maurice, the husband, but the similarities are undeniable.

I've done so much research and analysis on this character, and I hope to actually perform the role someday. I generally play off-beat characters like paintings that come to life and insane people. I'm generally very sweet and innocent, but I have a dark side, which Lucy must have to want to kill herself. Also like Lucy, my "best" qualities are that I'm "beautiful" (wow that sounds vain!) and "virtuous". I'm not strong or cunning like Mrs. lovett. But I am the kind of sweet and innocent girl Benjamin Barker would fall in love with. Naturally I have "yellow hair, like wheat". I'm a lyric soprano with a 3 1/2 octave range and a really cool lower belt voice, which is why I get crazy roles.
