Any Dream Will Do BBC 1

The search is on for the next Joseph and will be on BBC 1 soon.

Just thought i'd start up a thread for everyone to post their views etc etc
Salome

While I detest shows like this ...at least with Joseph , the winner can't kill the production since Joseph spends 75 percent of the play as an observer.
wicked_boy

I think it's great what they did with Maria and this and soon Danny and Sandy. It seems to making musicals "cool". And it's surely going to bump up ticket sales if the public get to choose who they see.
Yasmin

At least they are not doing this to a decent musical!

Not in England. Not even started yet.

So.... I shouldn't tell you who wins? Wink

Sorry, I should have made my self clear. In England they are doing the same as America for the London version..... I think. Embarassed
Eponine93

This show is going to flop. Joseph just isn't appealing to the mainstream... actually, it's very unappealing to most people...

I wish this would air in America. I would love to see it, just to laugh at it. I bet half the people auditioning will have no clue what the show's about.

Actually I think a lot of people have a clue what Joseph is in England. Because it was in London for a while, most kids have done it at school and it has toured for about 5 years I think, because every year it come to two theatre's near me.
Amy_Vocalist

Everyone in England knows Joseph!!! it's common knowledge, like grease

I agree, Jospeph and Grease seem to be on a never ending UK tour. I think they will stop it when both these shows come into London though.

Definitely not like that in America.

Thank god.

Do you not like it?

Come to think of it, has Joseph ever been on Broadway or had a tour etc?
Salome

the original broaway poduction of Joseph was in 1984..a very strong production.

it went back to broadway in the 1990s with an overblown production fulll of sound and fury signifying nothing. and that production has toured in various forms for the last decade.
wicked_boy

Oh, I never relised at all Joseph had even gone to America. I'm always asking about American theatre.
Salome

plus Joseph is one of the most over performed shows in high school, regional and community thyeatre in America.

Same in England, definately.

joseph

did any of u watch it 2nite? did u see that boy with the technicoloured coat! he was amazing! Cool Wink
katethegreat

He was scary Shocked
Watched it out of curiosity - and like Denise, I thought a few of them were hot Wink
It was fairly amusing - I'll probably watch the Joseph school bit (and I mean this honestly) because I've not taught many guys and I'd like to see an example of some of them developing. But after that I'll probably just watch the finale to see what happens.
Do you think they could find anything to equal the camp of the Maria singing 'So Long, Farewell' every time someone got booted off?
practically_perfect

oh my i thought he was amazing! yer some of them wer definatly hott. lol i think he maybe one of them! Rolling Eyes Wink

Maybe part of "Poor poor Joseph" with a few adjusted words. Or "Go go go Joseph" but really telling him to go away. Dancing

Did you see that one whose girl friend came in and asked for another go for him?

And Denise kissing the one in Phantom's photo. Mr. Green

wicked_boy

I'm gonna ttry writing them a good bye song to one of those later.

Also do you remember the Maria's wearing those idividually colored dresses?

What will they wear for Joseph? (Hopefully not those dresses.) Wink

Maybe a single colored technicolor dreamcoat coat?
Apollyon

thats what they wear in the opening sequence, so I wouldn't be suprised if that is what they wear.

I felt a little sad for the 35 year old fat Guy, they let him through, because he has a good voice. but he is never ever ever ever going to get the role.

ALW said at the beginning that he is looking at someone between Justin Timberlake and Micheal Jackson in the old days.

Its quite sad really, I saw an advertisement for the Auditions, and its like 18 - 39, but anyone over the age of about 26 doesn't stand a cat in Hell's chance of getting the role.

Thanks Smile You too.

Did anyone notice that in the titles of the show you could hear extracts of that Maria tune when they used to come on. It was a lady go "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ahh!"

I could hear it but with males singing it.

I thought could hear something like that, but it might of been when they were talking about the maria show at the start.
wicked_boy

Did anyone watch it tonight?

I felt so bad for the Joseph's that got kicked out.

i think if someone looks the "right" age they'll get through, but i agree. most of the guys on there (looking ever so fabulous! Wink ) are in their early 20s. i think if you can sing, act and dance (or just move well) to a certain standard, or specialise in one or more of them, you stand a chance.
MademoiselleMusicals

I love Denise she is hilarious swooning over the boys.

Maybe the Joesphs will wear a loin cloth.....
music is my life!!!

i couldn't stop laughing, let alone grinning! imagine how the boys felt, feeling there was a lttle "chemistry" going on between denise and them! Wink Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
broadwayxdoll

wait a second....whats bbc 1 , like what does it mean? and when is this o=gonna start? or has it?
music is my life!!!

bbc1 stands for British Broadcasting Company/Channel, and in the UK there's about 4 of these (i think). the show started 3 weeks ago and it's the first of the live shows tomorrow night with the top 12 Josephs! YAY!
wicked_boy

I can't wait for tommorow for the 1st live one.

Do you think any of them will drop out like that person did in Maria?
music is my life!!!

i hope not cuz they're all fabbo! did you see that guy in ep 2 who dropped out cuz he thought he'd messed up real bad? what's the point if it's a lifelong dream?

Now way ever would I drop out of something like that.

25 hours to go untill the live show. (As I'm writing this.)
Jordan

How can anyone not have heard of the BBC???

The BBC were the worlds first broadcasters of television (as such).

I agree that anyone more than say 6lbs overweight will NOT get far in the competition.

Donny already had a celeb status.

i don't think it's fair when people chose already famous people to play leads. that's what i love about this show

I agree! Also, I met him last week at Phantom stage door and hes a lovely guy who deserves to win! Very Happy
MademoiselleMusicals

My favourites are Lee, Daniel, Keith and Chris B

I can't stand Seaumus - everything about him.

He's so stuck up. Normally I would say, 'Well this is a reality TV programme and how they sometimes perceive them. However in Seamus's case, it comes straight from the horse's mouth if you like, we see that he is controlling and patronising towards the others - even the other guys say.

I hope he gets out soon.

ALSO. When John Barrowman was having a go at a competitior who Zoe said was ill (hence the reason his performance was slightly poor), he said

'We can't have people pulling Martine McCutcheon's on the West End Stage!'

Bingo!!!!

Denise Van Outen's face was hilarious - obviously her and Martine are quite friendly.

Was it just me but did anyone else find that hilarious?

i wanna be on that type of show! perhaps if they cast Amneris in Aida, or the narrator in dreamcoat, or eponine/fantine in les mis, or elphaba/nessarose in wicked i'd try soooooo hard to get through! in a few years, watch this space (well, watch the tv, too, but vote for me!!!!!! please?)!

^ Really!!!!

WOW

lol

Will you be supporting him then hee hee

I'm supporting Daneil because his brother is a primary school teacher here in Devon...Funnily enough he is directing Joseph and ironically his brother is in the final 10!

I love Lee as well and Chris B.

Kevin is so cute as well but I don't think he will get the role - too scrawny I think lol

don't worry! i will!

Who do you think will be going tonight? I think Ben.
Elfie Lou

I think Johndeep will go tonight.
wicked_boy

Although he hsan't got the best voice, I want Johndeep to stay, he comes from near me.
Elfie Lou

I can't really see johndeep being the next Joseph, he hasn't got the right style.
Angel-of-Music*

Theyre doing the same kind of thing for the kids in joseph. it's on the joseph website apparently you have to vote for the school choirs online. im gutted they wont let you audition if youre not in a group.
music is my life!!!

i'm gutted they won't let you audition if you're 13 or older.! we'd be good, too... anyway, i want Johndeep to do well, i live near to wicked_boy and even if he doesn't win, he deserves to have a good performing arts career cuz he's really brave to do it without his parents' knowledge.

No way! i just checked www.bbc.co.uk/joseph and he's gone! wwwhy?!?!?!

he should at least get a record deal, but chris b is gonna win!
Elfie Lou

Maybe Johndeep will go into theatre, I think he'll do quite well. He just needs to work a bit more on his voice.
MademoiselleMusicals

I don't think the right decision was cast to vote Johndeep out...I really disliked him but on the night I think he did OK actually compared to a lot of others!

Next week 2 get voted out.

Yay! Go us Brummies! We'am bostin! (Hehe) I think Zoe comes from near us aswell. (Not to sure.)

I'm so upset they wont let you auditon if you're over 13. We should all make a protest. They should cast all us MdN posters. We'd be the stars of the show.

yes! lets! back to johndeep, i think his vocals let him down a bit last night but last night was all about acting, so i repeat... WWHY!?!?!?!

sorry about that! he did comparatively well, though. i mean, when you're in the sing-off and you get told the public didn't like you, you would be terrified, noty to mention embarassed, and the nerves build up inside you so the pressure just gets to you. imagine that, though.... *shudder*
Elfie Lou

I like the way you're thinking.
Why do I have to be 14? It's not fair!
Crying or Very sad
music is my life!!!

well, i s'pose we're lucky in some ways... we can audition for xfactor!
wicked_boy

I can audition next year for X factor, I'm not 14 yet.

But whenever I seem to get auditions, a week before I tend to grow like an inch over the maximum height. When I had an audition for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in London, I was about 3cm above the hieght and they are really stricked.

I also had an audition for Sound of Music in London, but you have to live in London and can't betaller than 5 feet. Why do I have to be 5ft 1"?
music is my life!!!

it's not fair! my friend got into chitty (at the bham hippodrome) and she was on the borderline for the height! why is it that kids in shows always have to be tiny?
wicked_boy

Oh My God! My friend was in Chitty at the Hippodrome aswell!

I had an audition for it on tour (at the Hip and the Sunderland Empire) and I aslo had an audition for it in London. All three times I was too tall.
Elfie Lou

Shows can be soo tight sometimes.
music is my life!!!

i've had similar experiences in open calls for movies. for luna in hp, i was a month too young to get in (so was one of my friends) and i got into the lyra one (in oxford) but i was one of the tallest girls in the room so i didn't get through to the screen test! Evil or Very Mad
wicked_boy

^ My friend went to the Harry Potter ones, she never got the part.

Any ways, do you think they will release a new cast album when the show opens?
Elfie Lou

I think that they should release a cd of the 12 Josephs singing the songs that they are singing now, because most of them have sang great songs, so far.
wicked_boy

They should do what they did with Connie, have the winning Josepg make a debut album, but have a special edition version where all the 12 Joseph's sing their favourite song.
Angel-of-Music*

i auditioned for chitty, but i was like 1cm too tall :'( i agree with the protest idea though, we should form a choir and kick those little kids asses Very Happy
wicked_boy

^ Little kids get everything. We'll put their "under-13-years-old-cuteness" to stop and show them what realy talent is.
Elfie Lou

Go over 13's!!
Watch your back kiddies, the Mdners are here!
wicked_boy

Yeah! Wicked_boy, Elfie Lou, Angel-of-Music* and music is my life!!! are here to kick your ......... Laughing
Elfie Lou

Yeah!! Laughing
They won't know what hit them.
music is my life!!!

Very Happy Laughing Very Happy Laughing

i'm loving it!
Angel-of-Music*

i vote we make a video of us singing and put it on the joseph website where people vote for their choirs lol. screw age limits.
Elfie Lou

Only one problem, we're not a school!
