I have never seen the musical Sad , but I will in November Razz .It has for the first time come to Sweden.I am so exited Very Happy .What is the musical about? Confused

Starlight Express is a love story, with races, cheating, and an underdog. It's told with the characters being anthropromorphic train engines, cars, or coaches.

Wiki it! Hehehe... You can still get a good wad of info though.

Ah... Belle's site. I love this site! If you want a picture of a certain StEx character, this is the place. Probably the largest StEx photogallery on the web. (and it has a cool StEx comic by RollerBoy)

Show Novelizations. Each version of the show, written out like a novel. Useful.

Thanks for the plug, Vice!

In the simplest version, Starlight Express is a small child's dream. She is playing with her toy trains just before going to bed, and in her dream her trains come to life and race to be the Champion of the world. The little engine wins in the end, and also wins the heart of the girl he adores!

Control's a girl now?

BTW, Belle. I'm on your forum. I'm Lady Tantomile.
Belle

No... actually both the UK tour and the Bochum productions now have the disembodied voice of Control recorded by young girls.

The london production had Control recorded by an adult woman, Tara Wilkinson, who was in the "new" London cast as Wrench.
Jordan

It's not always a girl's voice though, is it?
Belle

let me think...

Original London was voiced by a woman in the cast, as was "new" london. Bochum had twin boys record it, until the re-recorded in the past few years. The most recent US tour had Control recorded by Brendan Danner (sp?) who's posted online a fair bit about the show. The UK tour is recorded by the daughter of Peter Hagen, who was one of the MDs of the London production.

Broadway, 1st US tour, Vegas and Japan I don't know for sure. I'm almost certain that Japan had an adult woman voice Control - but then I also heard that the Japan tour had Control speaking in Japanese, narrating the action as the cast sang in English.

I don't think the gender of Control has ever been specified, that I can think of? In the English-language productions at least.

Mybe we could tell by looking at the gender modifiers in Expreso Astral? (If there are any....)

But I personally like Control being a girl... Rolling Eyes
