Hmmm. Lets see, where to begin -
1st time, 6th grade - Orphan. Star-to-Be, Servant
2nd time, 7th grade - Orphan
3rd time, 8th grade - Hobo, Choraleer person on street and person in NYC, our director called us the teen chorus.
I am NEVER doing this show again!!!!!! My friend Heather screams everytime someone says, "The "A" Word". She's played Molly, been in the Ensemble and played Annie.

Hey, frizzball724, Im playing exactly the same parts as you, star to be, connie boylan and servant!! My shows soon, october 10th-16th...I love NYC, I have the stage to myself!!
|
frizzball724
|
Hey cool! And your signature says Pepper. Did you play her before? I ask because I played Pepper!
I unfortunately don't get the stage to myself. The director had this idea to have a dream sequence as I sing where I imagine myself dancing on Broadway. The choreographers got a little excited and put the girl dancing center stage and plopped me off to the side where no one looks at me. I'm a little dissapointed but I love my part.

The Star to Be was the most awesome part to perform. It's such an awesome belting part of the show. I love it! What emotion and energy! I was so honored to play it! My director said to me when we were in rehearsals that the S2B was his favorite part of the show, and he really wanted to see it sparkle. I hope I did well. We have an intercom system so the actors in the greenroom/dressing rooms can hear where the show is so they don't miss an entrance. I was told by an orphan that all of the orphans stopped talking while I was singing and pretended to be me. I guess they liked the solo!
So, I was the Star to Be, maid, and a Hoovervillian. I think I was too "mature" to play an orphan...

Annie was my first show... I played Kate when I was 3... It was a local children's theater... I got up to Miss Hannigan to drop the mouse down her shirt, but accidentaly dropped the mouse on the ground so I said "wait a minute!" to the audience to pick it up... lol

Yeah, I was double cast in a Servant and a Cabinet Member... I honestly have to say it pretty much sucked. It was at a very awkward stage where I was way too tall to be anything but an adult, yet not mature enough to be a big adult part (I was 12!!!) Add to the fact that I couldn't sing very well, and I got placed in the back, except for the Cabinet Scene, where I tried to act like an older woman but just kind of looked dumb.
What fond memories....

I had various parts in Annie, in a 2001 production. I was Bert Healy (although they changed the name to Bertha), Ronnie Boylan (in another night), a Hooverville-ite, and Judge Brandeis.

In October I played the Star To Be (and had a blast...oh my God, I could go on and on about how I LOVED THAT ROLE). I also was Ronnie Boylen and a servant. (Community theatre, not school).

Well, I am currently doing Annie, and I play a Bum and Lily St. Regis. I didn't mean to try out for this show, and I didn't want to. But somehow, I just ended up showing up to Call backs, and since I'm remotely well known at the theatre, they just let me try out, and I got a role! I'm having fun with it, but at the same time, I am rather bored with it, and SO sick of Easy Street. But I'm sure that things will perk up once the shows really start. (this is Tech week, we open this thursday). But it's not at my school, it's a preety nice, well known regional theatre in the city. Wheee!

I was a chorus member and got a part in the President's cabinet (can't remember my name!) and a solo in the pres. cabinet as well. The best part about this show was that my Dad was Pres. Roosevelt and my little sister was in it too. I actually dislike this show a lot, but I made some of my best friends in the ensemble that I am still best buddies with and it's been since the last summer.

Yeah, so I had to have the same part twice in a row (the shows were one after another!) But my friend has played Molly 3 times...the first 2 times, she was nine, but the last she was, like 11, so they had to repleace the costume she had worn in the other two productions (which she was very attatched to...

Mrs Greer...this was last year.
you know the one..."Your bath is run by Mrs Greer!" "Soap! No, Bubbles I think."
My best friend was Annie...she was spectacular. but she was only the understudy...now, why couldn't the little girl with the flaming red hair and the outstanding mezzo soprano voice be the real Annie? I just dont get it. The casting was horrible for that show. And my dress was hideous...teehee...I'm glad I'm not in middle school anymore.

AnnieI was in the ensemble of Annie nearly a decade ago and I really enjoyed it. It is one of the busiest shows for an ensemble member (with a series of great numbers) and it's great not to spend hours in the dressing room! I particularly loved performing "Hooverville", "N.Y.C." and the "Tomorrow" reprise in the cabinet scene. In that scene, I was an Honour Guard and all I had to do was hold a flag and belt out the dominant seventh in the harmony section.

Welp, I got a call 2 days in advance to the show saying my acting company needed another chorus member. So I went. I was in every sogn I could possibly be in and then I was Star-to-Be in NYC. I'm a mezzo so it was terribly bad, but 2 days before the show? Yipes. The same acting company recently did "Annie Warbucks" a not too well known sequel to Annie. I was Mrs.Pugh(spelling on that one, my script is downstairs somewhere) Yeah, it's pretty cool though. Simon ( Warbuck's attorney) plots a scheme with commissioner Doyle and her Daughter to get Dyole's daughter to marry warbucks -- saying the adoption is illegal without a mother for annie... then they plan to kill him off... Annie runs away, Grace goes to work in Washington for the President, Warbucks almost marries a Con, he almost is shot.... It's a very interesting play to say the least. In the end Grace marries Warbucks and they adopt the rest of the orphans. Isn't it cute?

right now im playing connie boylan and mrs pugh. im also in Nyc and Hooverville with the rest of the ensemble. the productions going kind of slow right now but it looks like it will all pull together... eventually. I never realized until now how difficult the boylan sisters parts are! PLaying the second soprano is not an easy task.
Also a side note... My director totally cut out the Star to be part after we all specially tried out for it and now he decided it will be a tap dance solo. Im quite upset, has this happened to anyone else?

i played understudy for annie the first time along with molly, appleseller, and a hooverville something-or-other. i got one show as annie and had a blast.
the second time, same company...and same members...i got annie as a doublecast. along with apple seller again and duffy. annie sucked the second time tyhough because of all the sandys we went through. but even though it sucked, it was still fun. i would never play annie again though.
a random question...
to all of those who have played annie out there, did it ever make you hate singing? our director made us belt every song to be true to the annie style, and i just got sick of singing.
..annie is a great show, dont get me wrong, it just made me, to this day, sort of, not completely, hate singing.

When I was in 9th grade, I played Ronnie Boylan in our high school's production of Annie. The guys did some major doubling/tripling.)
