My favorite musicals...hmm...I have a billion. I'm addicted.
If I absolutely HAD to pick ONE....I'd most likely go with Les Miserables...the music and the challege to act is so powerful and beautiful. It's such a strong, solid play. There are no holes in the plot and (depending on the actors) the characters are fully developed throughout the whole show.
If you haven't seen it, I really recommend it. Make sure you know a little backround on it before you see it for the first time. I had the honor of acting in the ensemble last summer and...oh gosh...it was amazing.

Oh there have been, and are many. However, The Producers is the only one to retain such an adamant grip on my heart. Great story, great music and lyrics, HILARIOUS, and the icing on the cake is that it's about musicals and theatre in general.

Sweeney Todd, (which was my first love), Snoopy! and Les Miz. Oh! and West Side Story - but just listen to the original cast album, all the others sound too slick and polished.

Recently, I've been totally obsessed with Spring Awakening. I know, I know, *everyone* is all spring awakening this and spring awakening that, but I really think that it's so refreshing to see a show on broadway that's so gritty and daring. I think that the issues brought up in it are totally relevant to today's teenagers and I think that the score is wonderful! I also love Les Mis (because how can you not?) and Urinetown because it's hilarious and original.

While I agree with Salome about poor construction and bad lyrics, I do think that it's a tribute to a lot of Spring Awakening fans who can still love the show despite its imperfections. There are some people who are just touched by the show and that stays with them, no matter what faults the show as a whole has.

Liking Spring Awakening has finally let me know what it feels like to think like a Webber fan Smile God knows it wouldn't have happened the other way.
