I can't pick just one...
CATS-first show I saw live. I've been hooked on musicals ever since. The Phantom of the Opera-OCR that spends the most time in my CD player. Blood Brothers-thrilling, heartbreaking, powerful story. The Who's Tommy-another constant-spinner in the ole CD player. Purists may kill me, but I like it pop-ified. Les Miserables-I love bombast. My Fair Lady-do you need an explanation? West Side Story-if you don't get it, I ain't wastin' my time. Favorite musical written within the last ten years: The Light in the Piazza-beautiful, beautiful |

Re: My Favorite Musical
like me!!!! God that musical sucks. But Ron Bohmer doesn't and he's the coach in the tour. Still that only makes it bad as opposed to the original terrible that only High School Musical and Grease could reach. |

My favorite musicals...hmm...I have a billion. I'm addicted.
If I absolutely HAD to pick ONE....I'd most likely go with Les Miserables...the music and the challege to act is so powerful and beautiful. It's such a strong, solid play. There are no holes in the plot and (depending on the actors) the characters are fully developed throughout the whole show. If you haven't seen it, I really recommend it. Make sure you know a little backround on it before you see it for the first time. I had the honor of acting in the ensemble last summer and...oh gosh...it was amazing. |

I've seen the movies/telecasts/videos of Rent, The Light in the Piazza, Company, Into the Woods, Pippin, My Fair Lady, The King and I, Chicago, Gypsy, West Side Story and a lot more. Also, I have seen the student edition of Les Misérables, but I love it. However, I don't feel that it's fair to put one of those as one of my favorite shows until I have seen the full stage versions.

GODSPELLGodspell remains my all-time favorite show, I could listen to the various soundtracks over and over again (which I do!) - I also love Oliver! Sweeney Todd, (which was my first love), Snoopy! and Les Miz. Oh! and West Side Story - but just listen to the original cast album, all the others sound too slick and polished. |

Recently, I've been totally obsessed with Spring Awakening. I know, I know, *everyone* is all spring awakening this and spring awakening that, but I really think that it's so refreshing to see a show on broadway that's so gritty and daring. I think that the issues brought up in it are totally relevant to today's teenagers and I think that the score is wonderful! I also love Les Mis (because how can you not?) and Urinetown because it's hilarious and original. | ||||
| Salome |
S.A. isnt gritty and daring. its poorly constructed with bad lyrics and sub par music. you want gritty daring and different try Parade, Assassins,or Chess. |
||||
| jasmine28 |
My favourite musicals are:
Wicked Les Mis Phantom of the Opera The Lion King |
||||
| ActingDude17 |
A few of my favorites are (in no particular order):
Wicked RENT Beauty and the Beast Sweeney Todd Into The Woods (and my only exposure to it so far is listening to the OBCR) The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown The Lion King Peter Pan |
||||
| Elphaba-the-wicked |
WICKED
WE WILL ROCK YOU RENT Sweeney Todd Les Miserables Avenue Q Miss Saigon AIDA Hairspray Spamalot (it goes on for a while but the top 2 are my faves of all time) |
||||
| Not Dead Yet |
While I agree with Salome about poor construction and bad lyrics, I do think that it's a tribute to a lot of Spring Awakening fans who can still love the show despite its imperfections. There are some people who are just touched by the show and that stays with them, no matter what faults the show as a whole has. Liking Spring Awakening has finally let me know what it feels like to think like a Webber fan |
||||
| musictheatre00 |
I could never choose one, my favorite right now though are Chess, Anything Goes, and Dear World's score.
My favorites change from time to time though. it's really whjatever I'm digging at the moment. So really, this is just what i have been digging lately. |
