Anyway, I disagree about Sally's 'set mind' because she proposed something (in my opinion to be quite radical) recently to the moderators and I think the majority of moderators said "no". Doesn't mean she won't implement it as it is after all, her site.

Who dedices if posts are spammy or not? I feel that some posts, even if they're not pornbot posts, can be really spammy and probably should be deleted. You all must know what I'm talking about. What are your feelings on that?

Believe me, discussions have been had. With the rules as they currently stand, there is nothing we can do. To tighten the rules further would be unworkable.
Some people stay just inside the line and dance about at the line without taking the strides across it that the pornbot spammers do. A very difficult situation.

Then change itself must be diffcult. I remember this board was frozen in time for years despite endless pleading for change. Although this whole setup does seem to smack of Louis XVI ensconced at Versailles.

Ok...I don't understand the point of the "Broadway Buzz" section of the M.n forum page, besides to house "The Stage Door" page and the "Other Current Broadway and West End Shows" page...I mean yeah there are shows listed under those that are on broadway right now...but if that section is for current B'way and West End shows why isn't Cabaret, Chicago, and Les Miserables under that section right now? Just a thought...I just think that that section should just have the other two pages mentioned or have the other current B'way and West End shows under it as well...just makes sence to me.

I have AOL at home, & I used to have a problem on another board w/ staying logged in. It was recommended to me that I use Internet Explorer for the forum instead of the AOL browser, & it completely fixed the problem for me. Try using IE or Firefox for this site & see if that helps.

May we suggest new boards here? If so, I think a You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown board would be cool. It's a pretty popular show and I think there would be good discussions.
It would cover the original and the revival, too.

Every now and then the owner adds new forums [and sometimes takes away old ones that are not used much]. Thanks for the suggestion, this is exactly the right place to put your choices. It will help her decide what's needed next time she changes things. Of course nothing is guaranteed but its well worth asking.

Nothing too exciting. Whenever that person posts on a thread that you're reading, a little message is there in place of the post that says "You have chosen to ignore this user." But if you click on it, it shows you the post. It's very handy. I only use it on one person though, but I'd rather not say it right up front... *cough*Duchess*cough*

Personally, I am a very loyal member of MdN, but it's true that the board improves considerably whenever Font posts here.
True, his style is crass and somewhat difficult to get used to. But he is eloquent and insightful and has a lot of knowledge on musical theatre and culture in general. Therefore he is an asset to this board to a greater degree than the members who mainly post mindless dribble.

When he was Fontinau, I agree. He provided insightful discussions and he has a wealth of knowledge that he brought to the sight. However since he got banned and has taken up this new screen name, he's taken to verbally bashing the site and concentrating on insulting members and the site of MdN.
I would like it if he ceases to use this crass, offensive approach and actually takes to providing insightful, interesting discussions. For example, I appreciate his great argument about the accusation of Lloyd-Webber plagarising.
However, unfortunately he seems to be more interested otherwise. Therefore my plea would be: please stop abusing the site and members if you want to gain the respect that you could have from your knowledge, and stop saying how 'sh*t' the site is to the people who evidently enjoy it by coming here.

Just for the record - I don't understand why the crassness of Font, Loppy etc are so offensive to this board. I experience several of it's current unbanned members as much more offensive and crass, yet they don't get banned. I have no particular wish they should be banned, either, but this situation makes me feel Loppy, Font etc were banned because they were crass towards the moderators, not because they were crass in general.
I'm sure none of those people actually care much, because we all have fun at the new other place, but I appreciate them, and I don't think it's fair that only negative things are posted about them here.

I don't know all the former members who were banned but really, the general mood of this forum has improved a great deal since the split and the board seems to be just as active. As far as quality of the discussions now versus then, I think we had far more arguments and flame wars then than really good discussions.

No, I can attest that they were frequently crass in general. I don't understand this attempt at revisionist history by some. It's not that case that things were great until the new rules and mods came about. The establishment of the new rules and additional moderators and extending to the mods additional powers was not done as some arbitrary and capricious decision. Things at MdN were getting out of control and like any attempt at enforcing new rules there will be a backlash, and you can be sure that most of the backlash would be by those that have been perpetrating the offending behavior in the first place.

When someone is rude all the time, they get a bad record, and as soon as they do something worse they're banned, just because of their record. It's the way it works at MdN, and... quite frankly, the world.
