I'll be honest, your execution of the facial expression , proportion and costume interpretation are enjoyable as always, your digital colouring style *is* gorgeous, but what's really got me grinning is humour you may not have intended: I looked at this everal times before I realized that the visible digit of her right hand (our left) is her thumb and she is actually holding the hand up with palm turned away, supporting the boa. At first, to me, it looked like she was sticking up her index finger... which is so very very close to a rather rude gesture I *have* seen utilized by griddlebones on stage. And laughed every time. In the good, "oooh, sassy lady" way of laughing, not anything demeaning

That implied gesture, even once I'd figured out the actual hand pose, really plays well with the fantastically "you bum, I'll show you to upstage ME... *grumble grumble*" sour expression you've got on her.

Just adore it. very Griddlebone, but not a siude that people illustrate a lot (certainI seem to fall more for the sexy pirate wench side.... which is odd because I do *love* goofy GLT and am now thinking I ought to draw more from that next time... yay ^_^)

I have this super-life-size me attack occasionally. But he makes a good room scare. Despite my assuring everyone that he is a really really sweet being in his other life in my novel people jump when sighting him in my room

Ah, I'm unearthing myself and coming back to the fandom once again. It's good to be home. Well, I figured things along the line of fanfiction would count under this topic, so I propose...

A fanfiction challenge!

Okay, so it's not that big of a production. I just wanted it to get noticed. Anyway, I just got a random idea for fanfic writers: Take a lyric, any lyric, from the show and write a story about it. You can take the line as much out of context as you see fit. Skew the meaning, prove the opposite point, turn a line from a serious song into a funny fic (or vice-versa!)...whatever comes to mind.

Anyone who wants to participate, go right ahead. It is a challenge, after all, not a contest. (Unless someone would like to make it one. <shrug>) Post them here/on ff.net/wherever, or even email/PM them to me.

Any questions? Just ask. I should have my own attempt at the challenge within a week.

BEHOLD, THE GLOWING GREENEYES CATS PROP!

Just got them finished, there are some minor tweaks that need adjusting but otherwise I've got green glowy CATS eyes to play with!

We are making a set of 10-12 for theatrical rentals. They are based off the original design of Ken Page's Bway headset. I got photos of them when I worked for a CATS production last year.

I say economy because my aim was to spend as little money as possible and I managed to make a lot of it with supplies I already had. The only thing I spent any real money on was the wig which I commissioned from Shadow from the CCDB.

I'm pretty pleased with the outcome!

DsnyManiac: your victorias are simple but lovely. I really enjoy those dolls because they do not show any sexual connotation. For instance there's people who use bases that have exaggerated breasts or buttoms or show "sexy/flirty" poses. I like plain and naïve dolls, though no those dolls that have such big heads and don't let space to build ellaborate bodies on them. (I'm complicated I know...hehehe)

Little Nell: when you smile you remind me of video Etcetera, so it is like Etcetera in the role of Jemima! You hae drawn the unitard patterns greately and really similar to video Jemima and your make-up is also beautiful because it looks kinda "natural", unlike those typical make-ups where people look more like parrots to me because they dont soften the brightness of the paint they use. What do you use to do that? White powder or you just add white to the colour? Well I'm not into the make-up world so I might not know the type of paints or other stuff that can be used aswell to make more light or shades...etc But I do know the difference between what looks nice and what doesn't

You people who can make great comics have my envy. ^^; Those are all awesome. I have an awful time with layout...not to mention I have an awful sense of humor, I can't come up with my own stuff.


And my own stuff...right now I'm trying to work on something and by god I'll never finish it at this rate, because I have no clue what I'm doing, markings-wise. XD I'm doing a 'group picture' of Misto, Tanto & Cori, Cass and Demeter. Maybe Jemima and/or Sillabub...oh, the confusion. I'm aiming to blend in my favorite designs for the characters from different productions- like Mistoffelees has his giant white ears that I adore from the Japanese production. I've got Cassandra down, as seen here...



...and thank goodness she has the basic thing going on across productions. I've been working on Coricopat almost all day today...and it's gone to show that I should have decided whether to go detail-oriented or pretty-basic-but-keeping-as-much-of-the-design-as-possible. I wanted to be able to draw the character, and then draw him/her again on-model with the markings, and that's difficult for me with the insane amount of detail the costumes always have (like the hatching...oh god so much hatching...).

...im in ur fandomz mutatin ur charactrs. I wanted to do them in a style that I'm more comfortable with, and that's even more cat-like but still anthro...please don't kill me. *flee*

Rahlee, nice to see you back (very appropriate avatar to the situation, I applaud that too ) and wow has you style ever gotten gorgeous It's still dinstinct enough to remind of some of the art you used to post here and to some disney fan communities (TLK, maybe?), but it's gotten all sleek and well-groomed. Appropriate that you should choose to start us with Cassandra as an example.

Good luck with the rest of the piece, hopefully you can figure out a working style for translating those markings. I've had a hard time getting patterns that are primarily shaped out with hatching on the unitards (like Demeter or the twins) to look believable as something that might actually grow in to fur. One of the irony's in stage designs that do, imo, effectively communicate the look of fur. Ah well!

Maybe try putting some of your reference images under a gaussian blur and turning it up until the little hatchy marks are indistinct, then reference those more solid shapes for your picture's markings?

Thanks you guys! I was afraid the style I went with (namely chosen because I'm lazy and wanted to go with what felt most comfortable for me I've had a hard time lately trying to branch out too much at one time, which made me really resent trying to make anything) wouldn't be taken well; I'm pretty sure there was a fear amongst the fandom that Disney or some other animation studio would somehow get its paws on the show. XD (And I'm with these people, the show's great, it's hard to improve on great, let's leave it as is, yadda yadda.)

And *asterix*...you're BRILLIANT. Why didn't I think of that last suggestion? ...well because I'm not brilliant, oh yeah...and eheh, yeah, I thought this avatar of mine would fit the situation I have here now. ^^; Thanks about that, too. I'm also very, very glad I've improved, and pretty surprised that my "style"'s pretty recognizable, since it's so heavily influenced by Disney stuff. And I do post art on one TLK community, TLKFAA. I ended up being incredibly lazy with parts of the coloring- it seems that whenever I get close to finishing, I always rush. ^^; Ah well, Mungo and Rumple, based on the US tour designs, but I improvised on parts. And Rumple's outfit's blended to look like markings instead. And. yeah. Planning on adding a background, but for now, I'm considering it finished and my god that other picture's impossible.

Oh man! Thanks, you all- and that makes perfect sense, Little_Nell XD I'm glad I made the two look their genders. I was really going for making Rumpel as kittenish and girly (in appearance, that is- you can't be too much of a troublemaker if you're afraid to get into messes!) as possible, and Mungo to look older, and in turn experienced in wreaking havoc and chaos amongst mankind and the tribe. Taking little crazy Rumpel under his wing.

Without going in to too much detail on what was just a time-killing doodle, this be Sillabub, all grown up and riddled with requisite angst. A more in-depth context places her in a story I've wanted to tell graphically since some time last year, but really? Given my tendency to finish things fan-related (read: i tend NOT to finish them ) I figure it's best not to drop any further hints, other than pointing out the anthromorphic styling (vs. warmers/wig/etc) are due to the means of the story... Normally I'm a big fan of costumes looking like costumes

Asterix, so this is just a doodle?? ...hehe all good artists say the same...¬¬ My brother does the same. He shows you a great picture and leaves you amazed, and the is when he says... "well yeah... but it has got lots of defaults (is this word correct?)" and then you end up like... "yeah right!"

By the way I've seen many times the word "angst" or "to be in angst" and never bothered to look it up in the dictionary... what doest it really mean? (yeah I know I'm a lazy student... )

Without knowing the fiction that is behind this "doodle", I would say that Sillabub has lost her innocence along the way and is pondering that loss... By making the angst a "prerequisite", she is identifying her style of writing - i.e., characters in her stories tend to be required to undergo such feelings...

I agree with your assessment, Spanish_Rumple. I have actually watched her transform a blank page into a relatively detailed sketch in the matter of minutes. The only difference between this "doodle" and a clear piece of artwork is the inking and coloring. People like our dear *asterix* tend to make me extremely envious since they make artwork look so simple to produce...

Finally, I've had some little time to draw something. This is the cat I'd like my RPG Wiskus Cat to look like. She would represent the cat of the vet from my street as I told on one of my posts recently. I don't know if Ms. Jellicle would let me change that image of Wiskas (Michaela Oloffsson's Kvitter) by this proposal, because maybe she had an other idea in mind. By the way, Rumblepurr is this the kind of cast that Dr. Benett placed on Wiskas ankle by any chance?

Pretty much - they make nice colored lightweight casts out of fiberglass now. My spouse had to wear one for a few weeks, so I found out about them while sitting in the waiting room. A "boot cast" like you pictured would be okay. I think Dr. B actually put a plaster cast on her, but no problems here. Seeing that Faber put in a "state-of-the-art" Infirmary in the Mansion, something very much like that would be what would actually have been done...

I do not wish to rain on anyone's parade - especially artists because I am envious of their ability... However, can artists PLEASE keep the SIZE of their artwork down a little OR use a thumbnail with a link to the larger picture.

If you can, you use a server that can be accessed from here by using the URL tags. Here is how it is used:

Remove spaces to get the actual command. You can get the same instructions by placing your point on the buttons above the message body.
