MzGalinda ,I use usual pecils, they could be different kinds ? Shocked wow...

Lady Jemima, thank you Very Happy Andrew Borisov, our Alonzo, was delighted with this picture Smile

Ann, I really enjoy your pictures, they are so pretty. Smile I'm on spring break, maybe I should try to doll, huh? lol
Rumpleteazer4760

Lovely drawings, Ann. I particularly like the Alonzo one. Very Happy

Sorry to post a off the current topic, but I wondered if anyone was interested in illustrating my fanfiction series. I would do it myself, but unfortunately I have not been blessed with the talent of drawing. Sad
Erikonil

Very cute Ann. I really like the one of the big Misto.
Etcetera Kitten

Here are a few of my face paintings, because I too like to show off some times Laughing

The first one is based on the Russian Demeter:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v422/Aikyo/Cats%20Costume/MimiDemeter016.jpg

This one isnt really Cats, but it's a Cats-style tiger inspired by Roxanne's work:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v422/Aikyo/Cats%20Costume/Mimitigre2.jpg

This is a Rumpleteazer wig debut, along with two tails. Most of my work is also posted on the Cats costume board

This one is me as little Etcetera (my fan made costume, all by me. It's been changed a bit ever since last Halloween though...)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v422/Aikyo/Cats%20Costume/Etceteraloveleh.jpg

I also have Rumple face paint, but right now it won't let me log in and get the pictures, so that's it for today ^^ Feel free to give me any critiques, I like to improve my work!
MrsJemimaMistoffelees

You do amazing make-up, Etcetera Kitten! Shocked Why can't my make-up ever turn out that good d'oh!

Keep up the good work!

Veel Liefs,
Jemima Very Happy
Little_Nell

I love your Etcetera costume so much!! I've always loved your wig actually - so fluffy!! Very Happy

Also, felt very inspired by your Russian Demeter make-up pics so had a go myself yesterday (what else is there to do on a holiday weekend?!). Mine turned out a little OTT - I was using a stupid brush and was watching TV at the same time, so that didn't really help! See below link (Xanga) for pics - they're amusing at least!
Flitterbug

Funnily enough I too found myself inspired. ^_^ Seems you're just an inspiring person, Etcetera Kitten... So, uh... here's my silly attempt at adding to my campaign to get people to realise that Jennyanydots can be sexy.

(Dont worry, there's nothing untoward. Just me being silly with your average every-day eyeshadow.)

Bill_Calhoun

Ooooh, Flitterbug; you're pretty ^_^

I am working on a fic at the moment, a big piece set a few years in the future at a Jellicle ball, when Gus, Bustopher, and Jellyorum have gone to the Heaviside Layer.

It is about the fact that they take Tantomile to the heaviside layer, and Coricopat can't deal/cope. very sad Sad

A little add on sculpture I made for CATS Munich. Stage Entertainment called me sometime last week and asked me about CATS sculptures. Previously made Munkustrap and Jemima in this thread were forwarded to the Stage Entertainment and are now in exposition at the CATS theatre in München. They asked for more sculptures and after I took a good, hard look at the works I had mainly done in 2001 I decided I needed to freshen up the sortiment. So here be a Mistofelees and a Victoria. They are OOAK sculptures with real fur for wigs. No molds used , polymer clay, wire skeleton. I will bring them to Munich this tuesday. I am still trying to let the invitation to the CATS Gala show and after party sink in and get used to it *inhales deeply*, so here for now one picture, more to come tomorrow, as daylight is more sculpt-friendly.
these are not for sale and not for commission.

greets and goodnight

Bill_Calhoun

Wow, they are beautiful!
Roxanne

Wow, Aky, you've outdone yourself. Those are beyond gorgeous....

I want to touch. =D But alas, I'd probably break them. So beautiful, really.

Also, I love seeing new makeup pictures. ^_^ EK, I've told you times over how beautiful you are. Nellicle, for doing that with an awkward brush and watching tv, it turned out very very nice. They eyes are really piercing, and definitely my favourite part. Flitterbug, sexy indeed. XP Somehow it's reminding me of a Demeter, with that yellow. Nice work with eyeshadows. =)
Akeyla

thanks all Smile
here are the daylight pictures, sorry for overload :/
and Roxanne, you can touch them, they're pretty durable, not drop-and-rip-able of course but very different to common clays as terra cotta or papermache. this time I even fixed the wigs better. The wigs are bytheway rabbit and mink fur (sorry) that has been cut of piece by piece, bundle by bundle and then attached to the bald heads of these two Wink same as the shoulder puffs. And yeah, I'm one hairy fingered person now. And I superglued a scissor beyond ever opening again.
anyhow, here is Victoria (with hand comparison)

and this is misto;

he can be removed from his tire bway

and then, Misto eyeballing Victoria Wink

as one day passed I notice many mistakes, like that Victorias base moved and she now stands unbalanced depending on the angle you look at her, and Mistos face is not quite symetrical and that the wigs are rather french and make them look like bigheads.
And the tire, yeah, that should be the magical tire. I hope Misto puts some magic on it so itll grow a bit more, right now I think Old D would be pretty pissed with such a midgety seat Wink (I lacked polymer to make the tire bigger, so, its small Wink )

anyhow, off to pack for München

Akeyla, as always...these are beautiful!! I was so excited when I read about your invite!!

It's funny, though...I thought I remember you mentioning something a couple months ago about a dream you had about going to some CATS thing where your sculptures were displayed?! Funny how that dream is coming true *G* *hugs*

OMG! I had totally forgotten about that dream!
now looking at it back in my entry, that was 2 weeks before Stage Entertainment called me...
although in my dream it was... negative...
I'm gonna repost it here for you others to understand:
I dreamed there was a CATS musical documentary running on TV, my Dad extra taped it for me. I watched it and part of the docuemtary went backstage into RUGs offical exposition room or something like that with costumes and pictures. I recognized one or two fan works from other artists, but mainly the room was full with my sculptures. THE sculptures I had given to the cast, I saw each one of them, remembered doing them. There were also some official ones I had given to the theatre, but basically all the 38 sculptures I had ever given to actors in the NLT, Berlin and also Basel were on those shelves.
And instead of feeling flattered to be ON TV and RUG having my sculptures (they even made a closeup with the camera of each)I felt incredibly hurt. You see, I had made the sculptures for the ACTORS and not the Owners of CATS. Their giving away of them meant to me that they did not like what I had done. As in a dreams logic I was suddenly not anymore watching the documentary but actually in the room, and I remember running out of it, crying.

thanks so much Sadie!

thanks for all comments!

Awww, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for all the lovely comments on my make-up! Actually, Nellicle, your make-up turned quite great, oh and my wig isnt very comfortable sadly. I like the boofy look, but I'll probably make a yarn Etcetera wig at some point. It will hold up better ^^ Did you yet start working on an Etcie wig as well?

Also, nice Jennyanydots pic! Yep she does look sexy now that you tell me haha!

And lastly... *faints* Those sculptures are beyond amazing, I cant think of a possible word to describe the Victoria! Such tiny details in the painting, such patience to apply the fur Shocked This is wonderbulously gorgeous! Laughing

EDIT: Here is my last try at an Etcetera make-up (still on my face ATM)

Just practice a LOT and I'm sure it will! This is about my 15th Cats make-up job, so yeah, I'm getting more used to the brush and sponge. Its about the 6-7th time I do Etcie see, the more I do it, the better it gets.

Was it not you that got the part of Coricopat in some regional production? If yes, then I'm sure youll be given far better stage make-up than the stuff I own. It helps ^^

grrrrr!
didnt get her, but passed on the regards to Lasinga, will perhaps also email him. It was totally crowded in the Jubiläumsparty and the actors had gone on stage to sing songs (it was a blast, Francesca has a voice! not only for CATS but for any other song). I almost had her one second but then she darted off and was lost amongst the other 50 actors(me and my highheels, i still feel amputated). ANd then I got stuck talking quickly to Jack.
next time Smile

You should listen her as Maureen in "Rent"... thet's HER role... what did they sing at the gala? And what did SHE sing? Perhaps "Diamonds are forever"?

Aww Akeyla, don't be so hard on yourself, those are just perfect to me! I dont see anything wrong. Plus, I know how hard it is to work with such little details.

Just because I am curious, do you make any other kinds of dolls than Cats dolls, and do you take comissions or something? I mean, do you have a work place and sell them? And if yes, again because I am curious, how much do these sell for? I can already bet its for hundreds of dollars hehe...

Thanks Etcy Smile
I tend to see the mistakes, guess it is classical behaviour for people in this section Wink atleast my Mum says it seems so Wink

As for other works, yes I do make other works, dragons and fantasy works, I also work for the furry section in art. YOu can check my homepage or check my deviantart gallery (recent works): http://akeyla.deviantart.com/gallery/?view=1&order=5&limit=24
And yes, I do take commissions. However, due to an overwhelming demand I had to close the queue, and I may perhaps fully close commissions one day. Right now people wait for a year and longer. Yes, I am horribly slow.
As for prices, officially I do not sell and do not take commissions for CATS works (because RUG would so appreciate this), but a realistic comparison (compared to the Misto&Vic sculpts in effort and material) would be
chesla for a 130$. This is however my price, measured on my time and the artprice/personal value aswell of course materials. If you auction works its nearly not possible to guess the final price, some works remain unsold and are quart price of my orginial commission price while other get their commission value bidded up by a factor of 10.
I mainly sell my works over ebay (furry works over furbid) right now, and occasionally also over direct demand, as in homepage/netgallery visitors. Occasionally I sell at Conventions, there again it really, really depends on public and general demand regarding price and selling at all.
Based on my personal opinion these past years its mainly small works that sell best, the bigger they get the more people see them as toys and automatically devalue the work. Taken aside that many people fear postage/transport dammage.
thats what I can think of right now Smile if you want to know more feel free to email me Smile
thanks again!

Thanks! I love the ones with fur glued onto them the most. What sort of clay did you use?
Akeyla

thanks Smile the furry ones are the worst to make, I'm not gonna tell you that I am officially someone with hairy fingers now Wink The bodys were made with polymer clay, specifically a mixture of Super Sculpey, Sculpey and Fimo Soft to create skinlike color that wont "moon" (get a flakey under surface... looks real ugly on faces) like buyable skin tone polymers do. For smoothing I use nailpolish remover, en masse.

Hi everyone, Hi mumsy...

Oh yeah, Idio worked OOBer hard, so major kudos to her...

Her unitard pattern rocks, (except the crotch) <inside joke>

And you all should know our tugger was so Faboo!

(i will be plucking feathers from my carpet for weeks, yeesh)

I sewed 7 unitards (23 hours of sewing), 1 dress, 1 pirate cat outfit with 4 layers of complex appliqué and hours of hard hand and machine sewing, as well as stressing over sizing and such. And I created the impressive Griddlebone costume from scratch with long-pile glitter tinsel fur, 4 way stretch primo velvet and 12 count; 7 foot feather boas imported from Australia. Finally I also painted 6 of the faces in our group. In all the count was several hundred hours of labor. I actually counted 46 hours work on griddle bone, and exactly 39 hours on Growltiger alone. Fortunately Grizabella had a pre-made unitard, with coloring done by erikonil and sewing and patterning with fluffies by Idiosylph, however she still needed a dress, warmers, gloves, long coat with appliqué, and hair. The total hours for her were about 14.

I guesstimate I spent around 122 hours on these costumes, all the while stressed and physically exhausted. ( I also had made 3 Halloween costumes while making these separately)

Idio made some awsome wigs, fixed my sewing up for sizing, added shoulder snaps, and basically was clean up artist and coodinator. (and provider of shoes)

Erik was master of all things colored/painted...

While Memphis was the knitting Queen!!!!! She literally hand knitted evrysingle warmer there with amazing detail.

Saffity was tail conchairto~ her authentic looking tails got chewed on quite a bit....

well my three tail creations were very chewed on too... giddles tail was snuzzled and the feathers later used as photo props... Growltigers had a Demeter kitten on it...as did Gizabellas.... Squee!

German Rumpleteazer

So far, only the wig and makeup are done. I've got her show costume outlined at the moment, but I had problems shading it earlier, so I'll work on it tomorrow...

Technique? No softening (since usually they just look up softened to heck and blah), only one pixel brush tool shading. It's looking good to me so far.
Arix

The make-up and wig look good so far, can't wait for the finished piece.

Me and my friend Lee made a poem about Macavity!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Happy This was based around a screen-shot I accidentally made where it looks exactly like Macavity is trying to catch popcorn in his mouth. ^_~ Hope you guys like it!!!

The Popcorn Special

“O Shock! O Horror! It’s just not fair!”
The cry rattled round Macavity’s lair
“The popcorn has gone! Oh, how can this be?
I didn’t catch one. What a huge tragedy!”

Macavity stared down at his shaking paws
Popcorn impaled on each of his claws.
He’d been trying for hours. In fact, all day long
But his paws, they were weak, and his aim always wrong

Catching popcorn in mouths is a hard thing to do
It takes quite a talent, (we know this is true.)
A talent Macavity unfortunately lacks
We’re sorry to say, he does not have the knacks.

He paced round the room, his fur all in knots
His eyes wide and haunted. He’d tried lots and lots!
He knew someone must do it. But who could it be?
“It is Bustopher Jones who I really must see.”

The Cat About Town, a qualified eater
Was sitting indoors, his tail by the heater
He thought, “Jolly good! It’s eleven o clock!”
And off he went, to his morning-tea spot.

Macavity watched him, his eyes shone with glee
“Lots more nice popcorn, for me, all for me!”
He jumped to his paws, and followed that cat
Knowing that popcorn was served at The Hat.

Bustopher strutted right down the main street
Heading straight for The Hat, where he’d eat, eat, and eat!
He thought of the delicacies awaiting his spoon
He knew he must hurry, and get there quite soon!

Macavity frowned as he watched the Cat hurry
“Oh no!” He thought. “Today’s must be curry!
But no-one eats popcorn with curry! Oh my!”
And Macavity looked as though he might cry.

But Bustopher scratched his sleek furry head
“I think I’d like popcorn today,” he said.
“Sprinkled with salt, and a little bit o’ butter,
seasoned with garlic, oh it makes my heart flutter!”

Macavity’s eyes nearly fell from his face
“Garlic?!” He asked, and he quickened his pace
But what did it matter if the corn tasted weird,
So long as it didn’t get stuck in his beard?

Bustopher pushed open the door of The Hat
And sat at the table reserved for “the cat”.
Tapping the wood with his spoon, he cried out
“Popcorn, at once! And after, roast trout!

Served alongside the fish, a small cup of cream
Hot herring soup, and I want to see steam!
A smidgen of caviar, and plate of the Special
Please bring it at once, and act like a professional.”

In wonder, Macavity gazed in a thrall
Then recalled that it didn’t really matter at all
The popcorn was why he had come, past the shops
Would Bustopher catch them, so neat in his chops?

Bustopher sighed at the bowl of popped corn
“Where is the garlic?” He wondered in scorn
“Oh well,” he decided, “I’ll throw it away!
The mice they can have it. It’s their lucky day!”

He picked up the bowl and he gave a great throw
Out of the window, the popcorn did go!
In horror Macavity gave a great leap
And caught one in his mouth, with a surprised little squeak

He had done it! Hurrah! Oh hoo-jolly-ray!
The Heaviside Layer smiled on him today!
He’d figured the trick. He learned of the cause
The corn must be thrown from some other Cat’s paws!

And back to his Lair he went in a rush
And his gang turned towards him, there fell a great hush.
“You must all,” Maccie said, “line up in a row,
And popcorn (with garlic) at me you must throw!”

So now you know the tale of Macavity’s learning
How he used brains and wits to satisfy yearning
I hope you have learned from this story by poets
If you want to catch popcorn, get others to throw it!!

Munku looks like he's holding some popcorn that's too hot to hold.

I've FINALLY finished my German Rumpleteazer doll.

Actually, she turned out as more of a combination of London and German, since German markings are mega-complicated to doll. I ended up making her as if she's actually an actress dressed as Rumple, though I decided to stray away from making the feet look like shoes... you know, because... well, it's hard.

Edit:

Not a CATS doll, but a Hogwarts one. Get over it Razz

My first reaction to that doll: *jaw drops.*
Nemii....if you're not too busy....can I have one?
Nemi

To be honest, my muse for CATS dolling is never definate... sometimes I'm in a huge mood to doll a CATS character, and often I'm not.

If I get LOTS of details, as in specific things, I could probably make a doll for you...
Alonza0

She means A LOT. She's made dolls for me before (*drops on knees and worships Nemmers* ETERNALLY GRATEFUL) and she really means a lot of details when she says a lot of details. You need a good idea of what you want it to look like, and you need to be able to describe it pretty well too. Just a warning... But it's definatly worth it. Very Happy

Yeah, so anyways, I just went and read all 40 pages. You people amaze me. I worship you all. I wish I could do any of that stuff, banners, icons, dolls, drawings, sculptures... but nope. Oh well.

GLOMPS! I want the piccy! I want the piccy!

A little tribute-poem...thingy....

(First Part by ALW-TSE.)
"I was lunching one day at the Princess Louise,
when I passed some remark to a man in white spats,
who had ordered a platter of fried gammon and peas,
and we soon fell to talking of this-is and that's,
such as pollicle dogs, and jellicle cats..."

(And this is by me)
"Now with all due respect friend, you musn't forget,
that London and Broadway are both very grand,
Yet the story remains still the same, still the same,
though changed in some ways since ever it came.
And still dear to our hearts, though its fame was unplanned....
Dear to me, though its fame was unplanned,
always dear to our hearts, though its fame I can tell you,
was not really planned...."

It began with a guy you might know very well,
and it's Andrew Lloyd Webber who started it all.
(Only this was a good thing, like most of his work,
and little did the rest think, it would would give them a quirk.)
In a book of some poems he had passed on the way,
well, a marvelous idea came to him that day!
As he read through the book, he thought,
"The rest are all prats, saying that I
can't make a musical out of these cats!"

There are pairs switched around,
and some parts left behind,
and some pieces are left to your wondering mind,
like who gets put with who,
and the theories of past,
but there's never a doubt
that the wonder will last.

And if there comes a time, friend,
that you come across
any man who denies there's a thing as a jellicle cat,
then remember the story, dear friend, and don't doubt,
that at one time or another you'll see a man in white spats

The memory lives on
here today
but not lost tommorrow
Here in our hearts
From one generation to the next
Dancing forever
Quaxo's Black Cat Magic

Lisa (from 'The Simpsons') as Jemima *plus* Jacob Brent Doll
