O/T Sad News. -Last Update/+ A Thanks

I know I'm not around that much now anyway but my cat who I love dearly and have had since I was a little girl has seriouas kidney problems. She has top go in to the vets on a drip for a couple of days to try to get her to eat etc and if she doesn't after that which looks like a strong posisbility she'll probably have to be out down. Sad
Anyway due to that I'll be aroud even less than already for a few days, so...yeah.

Bye for now guys

I'm very sorry. Sad We lost a 20 year old cat to kidney failure about a year ago.
SapphireNight

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've lost a cat i grew up with, an i know how heartbreaking it is to think of what could happen.
At the moment i have two cats, a grown up and a young kitten, Midnight, both are female. Since we first got Midnight, she had a lot of trouble with her bowls- she was sick (more then once normally) every day- and thats out of both ends, and her abdoman was swolen. When she was taken to the vets to be spayed, it was decided that when he did this operation, he would also check inside her to try and find out what the problem was. after the opp he put her on a special diet with a perticular kind of protein in, whilst they waited for results of biopcies etc. i have to tell you she was in a lot of pain afterwards, and it was very hard to just watch, but after a couple of days she was feeling better than she had been in a long time. However, over night about a week after the opp, she got very sick, and took her into the vets again, where they kept her in for several days. she had a drip and vitamin injection and all kinds of other stuff there- i tell you its a very good thing weve got insurance cover, as the bill was mounting up. I was very very frightened for her at the time, but she has made a very good recovery.
Shes doing alright now, still on the special diet which is doing her a lot of good, but she always seems to get her paws on food she shouldnt get at, (which is why i like to call her Rumpelteazer as well!) but shes doing a lot better now. She loves to annoy our other cat- Sapphire (and yes, i know what your thinking, but Sapphire has been my cat long before i used her name as my online one. and yes, Midnight was named after the other part of my screen name...) and gets into just about as much trouble as she can.
I'm really sorry to hear that your cat is ill, Mungostoffelees, and i know that it is such a frightening prospect to imagine that she might no longer be with you, but shes not gone yet. shell be in the best place possible for her, where they can help her as much as they can. If the worst does come to the worst- and that might not even happen- just remember that it is better for her.
I'll say a little prayer for you and your cat. If you want to talk or anything, just PM or email me, you are quite welcome.

Good luck, Stoffey. I'll be thinking of you.

Very sorry to hear that about your kitty Stoff. My in-laws had the exact same thing happen to their little Molly this past year. I wish you all the best and hopefully some good luck too.

You have my deepest sympathies and condolences for your loss. A friend of mine lost one of her pets a couple days ago, too...

But they're always with us, even when they're physically gone.
Moongewl

I'm sorry. I know how heart-rending it is to see a pet's health deteriorating, and I wish you didn't have to go through this.
*asterix*

Oh honey, I send you tightest of cross-Atlantic hugs. My boy Bijou, with whom I'd grown up as well, also got ill very suddenly with kidney failure a couple years back and it hit too hard to even try rehydration. 2 days later he was put down.

Take the time you need right now. See her when you can while she's at the vet, cuddle her and love her if she can handle it when she comes home. Do not let anyone else's opinion or what they may say to you in this time sway you from the way you need to feel and the ways you may choose to express that in your time together - it's totaally OK to cry. Grief is a personal thing.

Try to have faith, at least, in her powers of perception. No matter what, esp if you've been together most of your lives, she knows how much you love her. Even if it can no longer heal the body, love is the best salve for the soul.

I wish you luck and peace, dear. Hug her for me if you can, she sounds like a good friend Smile And then hug someone else who can hug you back, because cross-Atlantic anythings seem to be slim outside the ether.

Ach... I know the feeling, Stoffey, I've been through that last year. My deepest sympathy. *hugs*

Stoffey...

Sorry to hear about your cat. Like some of the ones posting, I can sympathize through the loss of our cat Laura. Like your cat, Laura was an old Queen with advancing Kidney Failure. We tried to help her with IV fluids and medications, but she still had problems. We took her to the vet, and she appeared to improve. However, she took away the need to decide when she went into a coma and slipped away... Even though we knew the possibility was always there, her loss was still hard to take for a while...

We hope and pray that you will still have time to enjoy each other's presence.

Regards and sympathy,

Well We had the last phone call today and in an hour she has to be put down. Doesn't help that we lost our other cat only about 6 months ago too, although this cat (Misty) was mine in a sense.
It takes a lot fo move me and upset me but this really has got me going. Don't know what I'll do without her.

Thankyou all for your kind words through this though.

I am so so sorry to hear that devistating news. I understand what youre going through- we got Sapphire and her brother Galaxy when they were kittens. Galaxy was so attentive- and again, he was 'my' cat, where as Sapphire seemed very aloft and didnt liked to be picked up, etc. We lost him shortly before his first birthday (i had only just lost my childhood cat about a year previously), and it hit all of us so hard. we were all so devistated and at a loss as to what to do- even Sapphire, she really changed, started to seek our comfort a lot more, she was grieving as much as we were.
I am so sorry for you, and for Misty. Youre quite free to PM/email me if you want to talk, and remember youve got a lot of caring friends on this board who will always support you.
take care, and take the time that you need to think all of this through, and to 'understand' it. It is a natural emotion to cry and to grieve, and dont let anyone tell you that she was 'just' a cat- we all know that that is never true, so dont let anyone try and say otherwise.
We are all here, your friends on this board, if you need to talk.

I'm so sorry - I know how upsetting it is when a pet dies. It was too upsetting coping with the loss of our dogs so my family no longer have them. My thoughts are with you.

Oh, Stoffey, I'm so sorry to hear about this! *hugs* It's always hard to lose a pet.
Swan

I'm so sorry, Stoffey. Sad I really hope you will feel better as soon as possible, and remember her with sadness but also tenderness and joy for the good times you spent together.

Both our cats died before I moved out years ago (one was called Misty as well Very Happy ). Even now I still think about them now and then. More faithful than humans and the love is unconditional. Although they do demand dinner every day and the litter box kept clean! Wink
MrsJemimaMistoffelees

I'm sorry about your dear cat, Stoffey. It is very devastating to lose a pet, especially one you have had for such a long time. Hopefully, she has gone to a better place. *hugs*

Stoffey, I haven't been around on this board for quite some time so please pardon that I haven't yet replied to your post. I am so, so sorry to hear that your cat had to be put down; I can't offer any words of comfort that haven't already been said, but from one cat lover to another, I understand how deep your pain must be. As many have said, hopefully you can find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering. *many, many hugs* Hang in there! We are all here for you.
Tuggers_Babe

Sorry to hear of your loss, its always so hard when a pet dies.

My thoughts and hugs are with you.

Thanks again for all your kind words guys you rock.

I was upset the day it happened and obviously although it is a sad time still it is also sadly life which I am getting on with as normal! I'm sure every now and then I'll be remidned and feel sad but for now I'm trying to kind of forget it happened, merely because I have other things going on with for now and would prefer to deal with this or grieve further etc at another time.

Thanks for all your prayers guys, I am however an Atheist and therefore do not believe nor am I religious in any sense. However I do still greatly appreciate it anyway and the fact that you have sent your best in your own way. (Don't get me wrong I have friends that are religious it's not a problem I just decided I would mention it anyway and show that I am still thankful for it despite it not standing much ground with me.)
Akeyla

hey there, even if I am not Miss Activity these days I want you to know that my thoughts are with you.
