o/t - moving, "bbl" status

Alrighty kiddies, so I'm moving today. The Shaw people are scheduled to come by Sunday morning and hook us up with internet and such at the new place, but that doesn't mean they will. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be back by Monday before work, really before anyone would notice my absence, but... Just in case, I'm letting you guys know I'm not dead or in a coma or anything, cuz I know how much you worry Wink

Hugs and kisses and all that crap ;p Smile

Cross your fingers & wish me/us luck!

Ugh, I hate moving. I've done it way too many times.

Best of luck, my friend. Smile

Come back soon, darling. You'll find us right here. Smile

Dude, you live! I was kinda wondering where you'd got to, as I know how busy you are...

Call me when you're all moved, as I wanna come put grubby little handprints all over your walls.

Good luck!
*asterix*

Thanks for the well-wishes, guys Smile I'm back now - or at least back online. Still very much in limbo here - cleaning, rearranging, building furniture, unpacking etc etc and all the rest of that fun.

*g* group hug! Wink

At least the worst part is over, right? Wink

Welcome back. *hugs*

Nope

No, the worst part is opening the boxes and saying to yourself, or even out loud... "Now where the heck does this go...?"

Hope you can maneuver around the boxes, find a niche for everything, and be able to say to yourself, "I'm HOME!"

Bless you, my daughter...

Ha.... I actually don't mind that part as much. I like figuring out where I can put stuff and how to decorate.

I absolutely hate the packing, and the lifting, and the going up and down stairs.... bleh.
*asterix*

Both wrong, but you get gold stars for trying Wink

Worst part will be getting the cat in - she's been granted a short continuation at the other apartment while we get settled (trying to minimise the freak out factor of little to no furniture, stuff everywhere and getting shifted around endlessly) on conditions of being closed in to my old room at night, and i have to go by every day and clean up after her, feed her and medicate her... You think she's gonna like me very much by the time we drag her out of her long time home and in to this place with another stranger? I'm cherishing these days in which I get to go to sleep and walk around the place without an ever present feline glare of "Die! Die die die! I wish evil things upon you!" . Dang cat. Oy vey, the things I do...

I'm a sucker, what can I say.

And now, cute moment with my room mate, brought to you by ikea:
me: *aggravated beyond words, can't find instructions to put together computer desk. Again.*
her: *finds said instructions and presents them with a flourish*
me: Okay, you get him tonite. *tosses her my new novelty pillow*
her: *clutching it happily to her chest* Eeeeeeeee.....! *... all the way back to her room*

Yay novelty pillows Cool

Yepperz. That's why I collect stuffed animals. Wink Matt (my best friend) and I find them so much more comfortable than standard floor pillows for kicking back and watching movies.

I hope the move-in goes well. I'm a veteran of several cross country ones, and I know how annoying it can be.

You'll have to let us know how you've decorated the place. Wink

I want one!

I am so there.

At Ikea, I mean.

Heh, yeah I have a couple oversized stuffies (3' sitting black cat and 4.5' teddy bear) and about 6 or 7 good mid-sized (12" - 30") specimens for similar reasons. The bear made an excellent "chair" when I was little, and sometime still serves as a good thing upon which to sprawl, though my legs are now considerably longer than his Cool

*g* with all the furni, I'm really hoping to have a sort of industial-funk but still sophisticated look going. I'll be 22 in a few weeks and would like a space that looks like a grown up lives in it... But I know myself; it's going to be difficult if not impossible to keep posters, random theatre memoriabilia, gutted computer parts and Christmas lights off the walls. So very dorm, it's going to look like a college freshman lives here. Consarnit Wink

O well, I'll just have to make the living room all suave instead. The roomie seems to agree rather enthisuastically with my proposed plan to continue the already existing theme of blues and white (when the apartment was re-painted, they left a blocky blue section on the kitchen/living space devider wall, our place settings are all blue line) with a floofy white futon couch, blue and white double drapes (just simple, straight forward hand sewn... cuz it's cheap) and a couple of these lamps, mounted horizontally, above the futon, opposite spray painted deep blue shelving/entertainment centre. Very cliche, but very easy to match things to. We're near broke, but we're trying not to look it Wink Time will tell how well that works.

*giggle* I thought you might like it. They're very cute (I have a girl one too Cool When I'm not sleeping on her I plan to steal the shirt from time to time) and actually excellent quality pillows, like plush but not so squishy that they're not supportive

But you do plan to be so here at some point too, right? Smile
~Bal~

Sure!

I'll bring cheesecake squares.

We need major hangoutage before October, I'd say.

@Asterix: It sounds lovely!

I wouldn't worry too much about the "sophistication' thing. I'm 31 and my place is a mishmash of pretty much everything. Most people think it's a teenager's room (and I still look about 19, so..) until they see the crystal ball collection and all the books on the shelves. Then they get nervous.

My repair crew thinks it's pretty cool, though.

Darkmage, we've got a lot in common. Do you guys think it's scary to enter a living-rom where the walls are full with (A) drawings (comic art panels, Cats portraits...), (B) musical posters and (C) fantasy swords and daggers? Laughing

*asterix*, I hope you will take pictures of your new place once you've decided that you can call it "home". Smile

@Swan: heh, your walls sound entertaining.

I'm the type to leave a copy of The Lesser Key of Solomon, The Necronomicon, Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy, or Crowley's Magic in Theory and Practice, etc. on the coffee table to scare the neighbours. Works, too. I used to entertain a lot and NEVER had one thing stolen. Wink
