O/T Bustopher Jones vs Potiphar

Am I the only one here that sees the resemblance between Bustopher Jones from CATS and Potiphar from JOSEPH (in the movies, anyways)?

RESEMBLANCES:

a) They both wear black and white
b) They are both rather large.
c) Their songs are both...umm....what's the word...kind of..oh, I can't think of the word...they are both kind of sharp (the music) and they don't sound...smooth?? (I hope that made sense).

I just thought it was funny.....it might just be me, though.

Oh Potiphar. Oh Bustopher. I love them both dearly.

I can definately see the parallels, and, if I were saying which actual Cats character (not actor) would play Bustopher Jones in a Jellicle version of Joseph...Dreamcoat... well, I'd certainly say that's who he'd be.

Personallity wise, Bustopher seems to be more jovial that Potiphar. Of course, Bustopher doesn't have to worry about his promiscuous wife sleeping with slaves... that I know of...

Do you mean staccato? I think Potiphar's is more staccato than Bustophers, but they both have that bouncy pompous feel Wink

Oooh...you're not the only one. Wink
But it's 'pretty much either just in the movie or depends on the director.
When I was in Joseph (which turned out wonderfully, I might add,) our potipher was the sort of clueless but really funny sort of guy- lucky go happy rich guy. Laughing Sorry for getting off topic, reminiscing here...It was hilarious!!
