I want to sing Not a Day Goes By for a college audition soon, but the original key is pretty high - it starts on a G above middle C. On the recording I have, it seems to start on a middle C. In my opinion it sounds stupid being sung in the original key, as it's hard to sound angry when you're singing all the way up there! But then the key on the recording is so low... What do people think I should use for the audition? Would it be ok if I went for something somewhere in the middle?
