Noises OffYes, I know this is a musical forum, but when people act, they do everything so I figured I'd ask here.
I was just cast as Belinda/Flavia in Noises Off, and was wondering what sort of insight people had on her character? When I originally auditioned, I was going more for Dotty so I didn't really pay attention to her character. All I know is that she's like a mother figure and a gossiper.
And also, there's no "lead" in the show right? Because my friend who was cast as Dotty has been telling people she's THE lead.

Congradulations for being cast in one of the best farces in theatre... what a fun (and exhausting) play to perfrom!
Belinda is the mothering "let's make everyone happy" person in the first act. She knows all the company's gossip and is more or less the confidant of the males in the company. She is kind of the straight person in much of the show.... the person in Act II and III who knows what must be done and tries to keep things together while it is all falling apart.
Although there are no "leads" per say, some of the roles are larger than others or at least percieved to be so.... I performed Dotty twice in two different companies. Both times I was the last female to take curtain call.
Have fun with the play, I loved it!

I love noises off, but I've only seen the movie. I've never seen it done on stage. I bet that's amazing.

It is one of my all-time favorite plays I've been in.
The first time I did it I also designed the set..... what a challenge and what fun!

I liked the movie, but the play works so much better on stage!
I saw this a couple of years ago in London and totally loved it!! With quick pace it is so much fun to watch.
Then I saw it here in Helsinki... the pace was a lot slower it started to hurt the play.
