Nightmare Cast of MFL...

Just for fun...What's your nightmare (AKA worst possible) cast for MFL look like?
Demon Dream

All I can think of is Antonio Banderas as Higgins.
MaryMag

Christina Aguilera as Eliza Doolittle

I like that one.

Or what about Fran Drescher as Eliza Doolittle? There's a voice good phonetics couldn't save.
TR_Wolf

Realistically, the idea of Colm Wilkinson as Higgins... "I've.....grewwn... accosstommed. to. haar. fache...javert..."

or even worse Paul Nicolas as Higgins! (Anyone who saw him in Jekyll and Hyde knows what I mean).
Mark Walton

Casting the original Broadway cast of MFL was enough of a viper pit for L&L; consider the 3 leads:

- Rex Harrison was reluctant to take on Higgins at first, in good part because he couldn't sing. Help of a vocal coach and cooperation from conductor Franz Allers helped a lot, but I don't think Rex ever fully overcame his fear of the orchestra in particular.
- Julie Andrews was not L&L's first choice for Eliza; they had wanted Mary Martin, who wasn't interested. Julie was about 6th or 7th down a long list, lukewarm off "The Boy Friend". She could sing all right, but couldn't speak Cockney, so she needed the help of a tutor playing "reverse Higgins" offstage.
- Stanley Holloway was the least of anyone's worries, but felt so overlooked and neglected that he threatened to quit. Director Moss Hart talked him out of it, by appealing to his experience and telling him: "If you feel neglected that's a compliment!"

Just so you know...a "majority" of America does not love George Bush. Just hearing someone say they do (unless they are musicalstar) makes my soul hurt...

As for Nightmare Casts...hmmm...Barry White as Freddy? LOL! Wink

Is it weird that I'd actually like to hear Christina Aguilera sing Eliza Doolittle?

I agree
Megan the Phantom Girlie

OKAY, getting back on topic!

A good Higgins paired with Alexis Borstein's Miss Swan character as Eliza.

That guy on those commercials whose suit is covered in question marks. You know, the one who promises to teach you financial secrets the government doesn't want you to know. Okay, picture him in your mind? Yeah. Him as Higgins.

ha ha ne way... can we turn the tides... who would be the worst BROADWAY actor to play the cast... i'd say Idena Menzel as Eliza I LOVE her voice and she is very talented... but erm idk you'd really have to hear her sing it first wouldnt you?

Y'know, if I could invent a time machine, I would... Hitler probably wouldn't have gone on an angry romp through Europe had he been accepted into that art school in Austria. Seriously. *Shakes head*
Cake_in_Song

I agree with Jessica Simpson for Eliza. That would be horrid! To make it even worse, we'd have to find the best and most beautiful young Soprano in the world, and stick her in as Mrs. Pearce. She'll begin to sing her beautifully reworked version of Mrs. Pearce's ICHDAN solo, only to be silenced by some "accidental" on-set disaster.
Eponine93

The worst Broadway Eliza ever would probably be Daphne Rubin-Vega. She was good for the part of Mimi in RENT, but not much else (hearing her sing "I Dreamed A Dream" makes me want to rip out my ears.)
sts4903

*CORRECTION*

she was NOT good as mimi...she was the original but it doesnt make ehr good.......she is probably the worst singer who made it to broadway..id make a bet on that
Mr. Hawkins

Liza Minelli as Eliza Dolittle.

KAPOW!
Sweeney Hyde

Gerald Butler as Freddy
Salome

gerard butler as anything.
actor

Paris Hilton as Eliza Dolittle,

I'd actually like to see JT as Freddy, but only with me as Alfred P.
The Duchess of Mint

What about...

Dear My Fair Lady Fans,

What about...

Lindsay Lohan as Eliza Dolittle

Simon Cowel as Henry Higgins

Rosie (OR Pamela Anderson) as Mrs. Pierce

Prince William as Freddie

Thanks in advance for your replies.
Salome

Simon thinks he is Henry Higgins anyway.
Set_Buildin_Dad

Buddy Hackett as Henry Higgins
Rosie O'Donnell as Eliza Dolittle (understudied by Roseanne Barr)
Simon Cowell as Col Pickering
Arnold Schwartenegger as Freddie Einsford Hill
Dick Cheney as Alfred Dolittle

Picky, Picky, Picky. Don't you ever see people who are already dead in your nightmares?

So instead of getting persnicketty, how about posting your nightmare cast so that we can give Edger Allen Poe a run for his money?

How about Topol as Henry Higgins? (I loved "Fiddler", but still...) Or better yet, Sean "Puff Daddy/P. Diddy/whatever his name is this week" Combs as Higgins?

Although oddly enough, I have heard "Just You Wait" sampled in a rap song!

Or how about Tom Waits as Freddy?

Among several other books, including:
- "Inventing Champagne".
- Rex Harrison's autobiographies "Rex" and "A Damned Serious Business".
- Stanley Holloway's autobiography, "With A Little Bit o' Luck".
- Robert Windeler's biography of Julie Andrews, now in about its 3rd edition (1997), she has never written an autobiography.
