Salome

Nicolette Hart

anyone see her as maureen.. I caught her on a dvd of "Standing Ovations IV" doing Dance 10 Looks Three from ACL and she was amazing.

I haven't seen her personally, but I do know that a lot of people iddn't really like her as Maureen. Apparently, she was too "trailer trash" for it.
The Very Angry Woman

That's exactly what I thought of her performance. I saw her on Broadway about a year and a half ago.

I saw her in the Farewell Tour back in January and personally loved her performance. Most of all she was able to make Maureen lovable, which I think is essential in playing the character.

And just saying, there was a topic exactly like this quite recently.
WickedToo

I saw her on the Broadway Tour and she was an okay Maureen. She mutilated Over the Moon though, I thought, which makes me not like her much as a Maureen. I like Idina Menzel better as Maureen.
mastachen

Her voice was screechy and annoying.
Gwen

I was okay with her Over the Moon, but a little while later I started thinking along the lines of "bird of prey."

she was the WORST Maureen ever. made me wish that Maureen died of AIDS at the end. of course, my fave Maureens will always be Idina and Eden.

i also couldnt imagine that Nicolette could sound good in ANYthing.

I thought Eden's Maureen was a little too butchy. I mean, Maureen's supposed to be a you-know-what but a lovable one.

She was very entertaining, but her voice was not good. But she was really not afraid to be "out there"

well, i didnt agree with everything that Eden did, esp in Over The Moon, but of all the ones i've seen or heard, she was next best to Idina - for me.

I took 50 of my students on a theatre field trip to Chicago over the weekend. One of the shows we saw was the Broadway tour of RENT. In our post trip discussion, the one thing the students agreed upon was how weak of a Maureen Nicolette Hart was. They found her to be the weak link in an otherwise top notch cast. Some of the comments were "she tried too hard to be cute or funny" and "She did not sing that well"

If you get a chance to see the tour, please do so. It is the best RENT I have seen since 1996. I was told that the tour is being extended to run through the fall, so hopefully your city will be on the second leg of the tour.

I just saw the Broadway tour on Tuesday, and I thought she was good (although certainly not the best)... Not the strongest singer by any means, but she was really entertaining.
