New to Forum: Ticketing Question

Hi!

I'm new to the forum as of 5 minutes ago, so I'm hoping I'm not barging in with a stupid question..but if I am, please forgive me in advance..

I'm planning my first trip to Broadway for the end of July/beginning of August. This trip has been decades in the making! I'll spare you the details.

My love for Broadway musicals has been passed down to my 9 year old son, and he will be with me as well.

We are both fans of "Wicked" and it is one of the top things that we hope to do in NYC.

However, I'm a single Mom school teacher, and this trip is on a shoestring. We won't be in NYC very often due the price of the hotels. We hope to see WICKED on the day we arrive in the city.

That's the background..here is the question.

I need advice on how to get the cheapest tickets possible. We realize that getting good seats is out of the question. But, are there any hints on getting in for a fairly decent price.

Also, how's the view from the backrow? hahah

I don't think I'll have time for the discount ticket booth because I will be flying in and checking into the hotel on the same day that I hope to see the show (on a 7pm Tues. night) . Plus, I don't know if Wicked is generally available for that. I know about the lottery, but I can't imagine that our chances will be very good.

Any hints or suggestions?

Thanks so much in advance!

Theresa

yeah as i'm not to familiar with NYC i can't really help you either. you could try going to ticketmaster.com though. the bad seats on there are fairly cheap.

Granted, it's hit or miss, but there is Ebay. I sold a pair of Broadway Wicked tickets on there about a year ago when Eden was Broadway Elphaba in the 3rd row, and got, regrettably, little for them. (I just couldn't go, class schedule mix-up) and got around $150 for about $250 worth of tickets, so that's an option.
Although, I do have you say, I understand your problem, most all of my Wicked trips have been on a shoe-string, no, basically a thread, but you can still do amazing things on a thread... says the kid who spent basically everything he could scrounge up to see Idina in London...
Anyway, good luck, and enjoy the show!

BTW, Wicked has an age restriction, but I think you should be fine.
