New Take on pippinPippin is a great show. I do feel it needs some revamping, a new take. Any ideas?

I agree!Pippin's score and lyrics reflect the modern music of the 70's. At the time of it's debut, it was considered Rock Music. Now it's called Easy-Listening. In order to retain the original energy intended by the authors, it is imperative that the score be revamped. The themes of the show do not need to be tampered with. For as long as they're Humans questioning life, and being insatiable, Pippin will always be relevant.
I love this show.

Hi just saw the Pippin production in Seattle and it was just great. Too bad it was only playing for three weeks. They did take a new twist with some of the scenes and in fact added a calypso beat to one of the songs. Pippin wore several modern costumes and his visit to an S&M sex club was also interesting. They took out the Fosse style of dancing and addess some new dance sequences. I'm sure you can re-wite the background to take place in today's New York City, like West Side Story.

I was in high school when Pippin came out and none of us thought of Pippin as a rock score. It was a pop score that reflected the youthful energies of the day, but not rock. Tommy was rock, Superstar and Hair had rock moments and intentions, Godspell and Mass incorporated rock elements into the score for effect. Pippin was Pop, almost AM radio "Top 40" crossed with old school Broadwway

My cast added little bits. Like when the lead player says that all Lewis was concerned with was Lewis, we had an obviously gay guy walk out with a boa and wave to the other Lewis!! It was hilarious. We used umbrellas instead of swords for the fight scene. The rest of the production was almost like a circus.
