New recording of EVITA

The Highlights from the London 2006 revival cast will be released in June.

I just wish they were releasing the full score (with 80 minutes per CD, they can do it).

Anyway, just a heads up.

Andy.

Well yeah, they want us to buy the highlights CD and then a few months later buy the double CD of the whole show. Greedy money-grabbing....

When is the release date for this, anyway? The RUG site is till saying "pre order this." It'd be nice to know when we can get this.

I hope it's available in the U.S.

yeah me to, I'm interested of listen to the new version of "You must love Me" Oh is that song in the show. d'oh!
MademoiselleMusicals

Yes that song is, as it's a revival so due to the sucess of the film and the song ALW is now including it. Very Happy I really want to see it, Elena something or other sounds amazing as Evita. (and a relative is called her name so it's strange seeing her name in the media lol) Very Happy

So, when is it available?

Well, many people wouldn't mind that, you know! Wink

There’s so much missing from the current recording: ‘Peron’s Latest Flame’, ‘The Actress Hasn’t Learned…’, ‘Santa Evita’, ‘Dice are Rolling’, ‘Eva’s Final Broadcast’… ‘A New Argentina’ has been drastically shortened and there’s no trace of either Peron’s speeches or the scenes featuring Eva and Peron planning their political strategy - all so meaningful to the story. What a missed opportunity.

The Philip Quast Guide have started a petition to the producers of the CD, in order to show popular demand for a Complete Recording of the show. More details at this link:

It STILL hasn't been released in Canada! I am very upset!

For those of you who have heard it, how are the tempos of the songs? I hope I can rock out to "Circus."

I haven't heard anything from the show but I was under the impression that the revival would have more of a "Latin" sound. So it might de-emphasize the "rock" aspects of Evita. I like the song "The Lady's Got Potential", but only the one with lyrics from the movie. It really rocks so it doesn't fit the "Latin" sound.

Is "The Lady's Got Potential" in the new show? I know Rice wanted to put it back in.

The New Cast Recording of Evita is 'so-so'. Elena Roger is a mediocre Eva, she's not bad...but doesnt hold a candle to Patti. Che, is kind of annoying. Phillip Quast kicks rear, as Peron--unfortunately you only get to hear him in like 3 songs. I like the Samba feel to "Buenos Aries" but it still isnt as latin as it was in the movie. The album is missing some songs, "You Must Love Me" is included, it's okay. So, in my opinion the album is Evita is not horrible, but not as good as it's predecessors.

Has it been released where you are?
