New Joseph release that isn't a new recordingAmazon and many other online retailers are advertising a new Joseph release, purporting it to be a fresh, brand-new recording featuring Lee Mead and the 2007 Adelphi Theatre cast. However, if you look closely at the cover picture, you'll find that it's actually a reissue of the Jason Donovan recording, with the Lee Mead version of Any Dream Will Do and the new Pharaoh song King of My Heart as bonus tracks. I know I don't want to buy it, but it makes me feel saddened that Really Useful Group didn't allow Lee Mead and the Adelphi cast to make a new recording of the show. It strikes me as some kind of shameless marketing ploy, especially when you consider that Really Useful Group through Polydor re-released the Donovan recording two years ago as part of its series of remastered Lloyd-Webber cast recordings.
