Need your opinion- should I call them again?

Sorry, I know this is a stupid question, but I feel really torn. I auditioned for a theater weeks ago and never heard from them, and assumed I was not cast. But two days ago I had a message on my voicemail to call the director. I called and someone else answered and said he (director) would be right back, he'd tell him I called. No call. I called later that evening and left a message on their answering machine. No call yesterday.

Would it be a good idea to call again today, and try to reach him, or would it seem pushy and desperate?? Smile

i'd call.

Thanks. I did call.
No role offer. Sad

but they said we'd like to see you back in the fall (for another show their doing) and were wondering if I'd like to work in the box office. I would, just to get "in" with the theater, but I already work full time...? (actually going to be working overtime for a few weeks because someone just quit at work)
I'm waiting to hear back on what type of time committments they want and I'll see if I can work it out with my schedule.

oooooh those sneaky asses!

i've almost been roped into something like that before. they called auditioners who weren't cast and began the conversation with 'we'd love to see you back at our next audition... in the mean time we'd love it if you could...' and you assume whatever thankless task they're asking you to do, they'll remember you for it or at least some day witness the work you've done. But no. In my instances, anyone with any casting authority washed their hands of me quickly and I never worked/volunteered with anyone with casting authority after that.

I hate to say it, but don't assume working the box office will get you "in." : ( wah wah. work there if you genuinely want to work in the box office, but don't count on it getting you 'in'. i've done some grunt work in the hopes it would get me somewhere and it's been a mistake.
