I am auditioning for the part of Luisa in The Fantasticks next week and need help deciding on a song. The audition notice says:

Prepare two contrasting songs 32 bars each, you may choose songs from the show.

So... I am deciding whether or not to sing from the show. I will either sing Much More (from the show) or Many a New Day (Oklahoma). I have had a little more practice with Many a New Day but I feel equally as comfortable with Much More. I just don't know if I should sing a song from the show or not.

Although they have said you can choose songs from the show I would be a little weary........ Often they have an idea of how they want the song sung and if you do a different interpretation they switch off from your audition. Best to do something different as then they can work with you to create what their vision is...

I think Many A New Day is a good choice - although it is ultimately up to do but if you do something the same style, vocal range I think it's ok not to do something from the show

Anything from Oklahoma, Carousel (Mr Snow??) would be great i think! Bring Much More with you, and if they want to hear it they'll let you know!
