Narrator Audition

Okkkay, so...I'm auditioning for the Narrator and have NO idea what to sing.

I would like to do something that shows that i can belt it out, and hit those high notes in head voice...bad idea? any song suggestions?

THANK YOU!

Hmm... can you tell us a little more about what's in your rep, you're full range, and also, what sheet music you have access to. I'd be happy to help though once I know a little more.
Beagle On Stage

My favorite song to suggest for the Narrator is "Bless the Lord" from "Godspell." It's great for many reasons. It's contemporary and pretty simple, like the music in "Joseph." It has a religious overtone. It has opportunties for both belt and legit. It's only one full-step short of the Narrator's complete range for the whole show. It shows the your voice works both in minor and major modes, which the Narrator needs. And it allows you to show a lot of personality.

I'm going to be auditioning for it in June, and something I'm considering singing is 'Another Openin', Another Show' from Kiss Me, Kate. I think it would do well for the range (I'm not good for technicalities with notes and keys, but by ear it sounds right...). I think it's slightly overdone, but since it's what I have I think that's just what I'll go with. Anyway, I think something up-beat and fun like that song would do well.
music is life

Hi everyone I just wanted to say I am going to be auditioning for the narrator at my school. and for our auditions you have to sing a song from the show, so i was wondering which song/part in a song do you think has the best vocal performance? our director wants us to really go for the complicated parts and the only part i can think of is in "Stone the Crows" where it goes "Joseph...pharoah's number two. Joseph...Egypt looks to you" and then where you sing Joseph really high/belty. does anyone else know of a good part?

thanks Smile
