my school's season (FINALLY)Okay, so our director finally announced the shows for this year.
Our musical is Once On This Island.
Our straight play is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
I'm definitely excited for the straight play, although I know it's pretty guy heavy, and since I am not a guy there is not much available. Can anyone tell me how minimal the female roles are and what kinds of characters they are (this is the play, not the novel or movie)? I've searched and found character lists and such, but it's not giving me a very good idea. It's possible that our show will be double-cast, as it was last year when we did a small-cast show.
As for Once on This Island, I'm not too jazzed. Has anyone done it before? How was your experience? I think there's no ensemble written in, right? Our school will be adding one, which we did for Urinetown, and it was pretty boring for us ensemble members. Do you think there's a lot of room for an ensemble? I'm actually trying to decide if I want to do it or not (I'm not an upperclassman and we have a LOT of talent, so I won't have a role.) Also if you have any song ideas I would appreciate it.

My school is doing Once on this Island for our 2nd Musical this year.
I've already been in it twice and Mama Euralie and Asaka, and I have dont costumes once, but I am so amped to be in it again. Technically, there is no ensemble, but If your director writes one it, I can almost garuntee that you will be in most of the dance numbers, which are huge and fun.
In the productions I have done, the ensemble had a fair amount of stage time.
If you audition and get in, then I think you'll like it.
If you don't audition or don't get in, then you should definatley do something for it, it is a fun show to do backstage work for too.
Anyway, sorry of the long post. If you want to know anything else PM me.
