My First Professional Show

I need to share this in my own topic because I am more than extremely excited.

Alright well I was in a show with one the THEE (if not thee) best theatre company around here. I was more than excited to be in the ensemble of 12 because dozens upon dozens auditioned. The ensemble members were the only ones not getting paid. Obviously I did not care what-so-ever as long as I was in the show.

So it's closing night and a friend and I get there early and go galavanting around the playhouse. Our director stops us an hands us each an enveople with our names on it. We open it and it's a check made out to each of us. I almost peed my pants. Like, seriously. I really almost did.

So then our director takes all of us backstage before we went on and told us how proud and excited he was to have us as his cast for the primer of the seasonal show. And he gave us a little pin of the theatre that we were working in and it was all cute (PM me if you wanna know the name of the company because i'm not comfortable posting it here)

So, I just wanted to share my exciting experience of my (surprise) first professional show ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How nice of them!
Typically, everyone gets paid so I'm glad to hear that you got your share in the end!

I've only done two professional shows, and for both of them I almost felt guilty accepting the cheques. I mean, I know that I worked my ass off and probably deserved it, but it seemed wrong getting money for something that I would gladly do for free, ya know?

I hope your run was a good one!
Break legs in the future!

Congratulations! That is really cool! Now please hold on to this feeling because, not to be all jaded, not all your experiences will be this great, but you will be able to reflect on this awesome experience! It is the moments like these that make it easier to continue on in professional theater!

thanks guys!!!

it was so cute because the company that i did the show with is a summer company and only does them in the summer. and so we were the first cast to do a show any other season than the summer. so our director was so cute and thankful

Shadowdancer! Is this just a fleeting appearance, or will you be hanging out a little more?

Here here!

I actually just got my first check for opening night- TONIGHT! For a brand new straight play in an artsy little professional theatre in DC. It was so exciting.
