I have accepted the role of a very lusty, wanton, sexy young Hamlet next season, and yes, it's a lovely book. All it needs is a nice butt, so I will fulfill the material once and for all.

Is it the one written by his ex-wife or something? Because if so, one of our cast members for Cosi had it, and it ended up being a prop onstage that one of the girls would often read.. Although the cover was a little too modern haha.
I should read it though!

When I saw this thread I started singing. "These are a few of my favortie reads" To the tune of "These are a few of my favorite things." Lol. But Teapot I agree. My top two are the same. Only in a differnt order. 1. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and 2. To Kill a Mockingbird.
I can't stop humming it. And replacing the words. Like whiskers on kittens and so on with book titles.

These aren't all the best books in the world necessarily, but they've all made me think. What comes to mind (listed in no particular order):
01. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (I know, original, right? )
02. J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series and related books, including The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and others
03. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
04. The Lord of the Flies by William Golding
05. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
06. The Piano Tuner by Daniel Mason
07. The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles
08. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
09. The Chosen by Chaim Potok
10. Elizabeth George's "Inspector Lynley" mystery series
11. Ray Bradbury, especially short stories
12. The Bible
13. The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
14. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
15. The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro
16."A Family Supper" by Kazuo Ishiguro
17. Probably everything else written by Kazuo Ishiguro that I haven't yet read. He's quite possibly my favorite author. His prose is so elegant and understated, and for me, things are much more sorrowful and poignant expressed that way than through the use of only raw emotion. At any rate, his work is somewhat haunting, and I find myself thinking about it more than I do with a lot of other writing I've read.
18. Shakespeare, especially Macbeth, Hamlet, Othello, The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, and Julius Caesar. (and probably more, but those are the ones I'm most familiar with)
19. other interesting historical fiction, often in foreign locations (e.g. Leo Africanus by Amin Maalouf)
20. The Awakening by Kate Chopin
21. The Crucible by Arthur Miller
22. several short stories by Isaac Bashevis Singer
Good books I've read recently:
23. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
24. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
25. I'm also a bit of a foreign language nerd, so I own a lot of grammar/dictionary/vocab materials, and I actually will read them for fun.
