Musicals...

Hi, when I was reading the history of musical form I came across many different information about the developement of the form.
There are books where it is written that light opera and musical is the same thing and in other books there is written that musical developed from a light opera? Which of these are correct. Could someone help me find information about it? A website, book... I don't know where to look for it. Please help!

I checked it out from our county library (and our county is tiny) so it'll probably be at yours!

And advance through the years on the bottom of the pages. Don't stop till you get to Wicked. It's a very interesting read. (And ignore what he says about Cats.)

Ha! That was on today... er, yesterday... but I dodn't get to watch it because my mom said "Absolutely no theater today! That includes showtunes!". Erg, see if I'm gonna thank her when I get my Tony... lol.

Because she doesn't really like theater... she's not supportive at all. You should have heard the fight we had the other day... She asked me if I was gonna be in Charlie Brown and I told her that I wasn't, but I'm directing it. You know what she said? "Oh, good then. I don't have to go." She's a pain in my rear! Erg... she's getting on my nerves... she also told me she probably won't pay for my college tuition next year (my freshman year) because I'm going to be a theater major and I can "get a head start at being in debt"... oy, don't get me started on that woman.........

I definitely have that on DVD. It's excellent. I recommend it.
