Scatting is just singing without real words.
It first came around in the Doo - Wop era, the 60's, when kdis couldn't aford intsruments, so they used their voices. Listen to songs by The Supremes, The Falmingo's etc. |

haha it actually came during the be bop period. Scatting is singing syllables that will make you sound like a certain instrument. The irony is that instruments try to sound like singers and we try to sound like them. listen to some ella fitzgerald and louis armstrong. She always mimicks his trumpet sound. Another example is my scat... I used fwee and soft fuzzy (yes fuzzy) sounds that are supposed to sound like a tenor sax. Sorry ... I kinda love jazz
