Musical theatre visual marketing: posters, logos, etc

What bits of visual marketing do you love or hate, and why? You can include amateur/school/your own designs too. Post pictures to spread the love/hatred.

I'm not a fan of this show, but I love the logo:

It's simple, striking, and offers a little more than first meets the eye (pun intended, lolz). And I guess it sums up the show pretty well. Apparently the tagline for billboards back in the day was "Isn't the curiosity killing you?"

And, okay, this is an opera, but close enough:

This one is maybe a little cheesy. But I still like it. Could perhaps do nicely for Pacific Overtures, or Miss Saigon (of course).

I like the way Anya is shedding light on the room that she's entering, it's all, like, metaphoric. And the way her reflection in the floor almost looks like a woman wearing a ball gown.

Please post your own!

I think it's iconic. It's so simple and immensly memorable. Most of those logos by Dewynters (?) are.

Other favourites of mine are the WSS stairs, the ACW nurse, the London Follies logo and the 1993 London Carousel logo.

This is one of my favorites, designed specifically for my theatre company:

Joshua

I don't know if this counts, but I LOVE this artwork for the Mary Poppins Film.

Probably my favorite is

It takes you a minute, then you realize what it is.

The artwork on this is gorgeous:

Is also rather iconic as well. I've long wondered what the symbol means, anyone know?

The helicopter?

I don't get it.

LittleGavroche, the Saigon one is the helicopter & Kim is also in there too, on the right. At least, that's how I've always interpreted it.

wow, that is really cool, I have never realized that was a helicopter. I always thought it was just a Character in the language or something.

It's the stars of an American flag.

Whoa. Never saw a helicopter till now. Laughing But I think it must mean something else as well...?

I only have two designs that I did:

^This show was on a very small budget and I had to create the design in a hurry, hence the kind of sloppy look. But I like the layout of it.

Yeah, it does look like that... but Miss Saigon is nothing without the helicopter effect. lol "Let's go see Miss Saigon." "Why??" "There's a helicopter." "Ohh right!"
Mungojerrie_rt

It appears to be a helicopter, a letter/word and a face in there too.

Does anyone actually know what the symbol actually says?
Barberous

In the 'Making of Miss Saigon' documentary, somebody just refers to that part of the logo as "the hieroglyphic". Perhaps they just made it up?

I'm definitely biased here, because this was my first glimpse of the movie version of my favourite musical. But it's still good. Sweeney's remote, inhuman, shadowy face...the washed-out colour...the red glow under the floorboards...the general weirdness.
Brigantine

I may be biased because I like the show (a minortiy, I know) but I like:

I actually think that is a tad tacky. It lacks the wicked humour that defines the show.
