Musical Film QuestionA friend at my mom's work lent us two musical films I assume were originally film, meaning not based on a show. They are Going My Way with Bing Crosby and For Me and My Gal with Judy Garland. Does anyone know anything about these movies?Going My Wat was released in 1944 and Me and My Gal was released in 1942. |

I know there is a musical called Me and My Girl, but I'm fairly positive they're not the same thing. Check out Me and My Girl though... it's a little known musical that really deserves to be better known.

^^I know about Me and My Girl. It is not the same thing...this has Gene Kelly in it as well as George Murphy. It was directed by busby Berkeley. It was Kelly's screen debut.

"Going My Way" isnt really a musical..although Crosby does sing a song or two. Both Bing and Barry Fitzgerald won Oscars for the film. |

Actually there's quite a bit of singing in Going My Way, with the boys choir (with James Brown's first film appearance) and the opera singer...
Saw it maybe 6 months ago? Cried like a baby at the end. (The old priest reminded me of OUR old priest who had recently died.) |

that was Barry Fitzgerald. wonderful character actor. usually played devilsih old codgers or Irish priests. His best role IMO was the Judge in Agatha Christie's 'And then Ther Were None" quite against type if you know the story. |
